I just can't get away with the lad, mistakes are starting to creep into his glove work and i'm not a massive fan of his batting, especially in the one day game.

Personally i'd briing Mustard back for the one dayers (where he should never have been dropped) and give Ambrose the chance to prove himself against a decent Test side.  He might go on and prove me wrong, we'll wait and see

I agree with all of that. It could be said that his glovework off Swann yesterday cost England the game although that may be a tad harsh

Thought i'd bring this topic back to the surface as its starting to bug me watching England!

His glovework was again poor yesterday, personally and i'm no wicketkeeper he takes the ball knee height and below constantly instead taking it waist height instead which would bring the whole slip corden forward aswell.

Again he dropped a relatively simple catch and was lucky Smith gave his wicket away when we took the new ball.

Having seen James Fosters glovework the other day in the T20 he literally buts Ambroses to shame, plus Foster is no mug with the bat.

Problem is it seems his face doesn't fit and if Ambrose does get dropped we'll end up with Prior behind the stumps!

Heard ambrose did drop a couple yesterday... Id like to see Chris Read back in the team.
Although i have been thinking it must be hard to keep in the England team, lets take G.Jones (2005 ashes) for example, for his county he would have been facing a couple of fast bowlers but nothing like what he faces for england... Harmison (95mph) Jones (95mph) Hoggard (85mph).
Its a step up in class and pressure really!

Ambrose really isn't doing what he was bought into the side to do which was to keep well and score helpfull runs, neither of which he is doing. I also think he takes the ball to low as well e4sby.

He's starting to get on my nerves. When he came into the side I thought; "good, it's not Matt Prior", but now I'd rather have Mark Wallace than Ambrose! It's stupid keeping him in, a definite county player, nothing more I'm afraid, and it's time Foster was brought back into contention.

I think the England management need to jettison the idea that their keeper MUST score runs. Especially the way Broad is batting, it seems a little less important. That way we can just pick the best keeper. And I'll bet that with the pressure taken off, someone like Foster or Read would chip in with handy 30's on a regular basis and sometimes more, a bit more like Ian Healy or Jack Russell

Why is it that England selectors are reluctant to choose Read? He kept and batted very well against Pakistan in his last Tests, and yet they dropped him for the ashes for Jones. After failures by Jones, then Prior, and now Ambrose, there has to be a reason why he has been overlooked, or is it just the typical naivety by the England selectors?

How about Steve Davies? Seems to have tidy glovework and a pretty handy batsmen

Read can't be picked because he played in the ICL, so the next best keeper in the country, imo is Foster who just happens to be a decent batsmen as well.
