ICC laws mean your main sponsor has to manufacture cricket bats. At least I think that's the case.

What is in it for them?? Unless you mean companies associated to cricket (touring companies etc) ?

What's in it for a company to have their logo displayed all around the world?

I mean like Hero Honda and MRF do to the Indian batsman.

Could Ferrari or Walmart do the same?

Kieswetter must have popped into M&H before going to India to get a few pairs of gloves. Would have been nice if he had offered to use M&H stickers until he gets a new sponsor.

Prior is worth the money as he's a top quality test batsmen. Pollard is really only worth it to brands who want to crack the IPL IMO. His appeal outside of the IPL is nowhere near the likes of Prior, Warner etc.
Not just ipl...T20 in general, besides ipl is biiiig money and if he applies himself could turn into one hell of an odi batsman.

True, IF he did that then yeah.. He's not done it yet so I'm thinking he's pretty much just a T20 player. Yes the IPL is big bucks but only if you want to break the indian market which I'd assume from all the Indian players using SF/SS or Nike or who ever is probably already dominated.

Cut back on outlay due to a woeful last "summer" of sales won't have aided things

Wouldnt be a bad brand ambassador for you would he mate? Keeping in your helmet, opens in the T20's occasionally as well

Not sure how that works with MRF ???

how much does a county pro get? Just free kit? Some money? Or does he have to pay for his bats?

Would expect Geraint Jones to be on free kit, depending on brand he may get a small retainer or bonuses around £2k. One of the more recent brand sponsors on here may have a better idea.

Puma didn't pay their players much, but they got a casual clothing allowance.

Interesting to see all brands cutting back in both county, jnr and international cricket. Tough times out there.

What about Hero Honda or Britannia. To be honest the Indian players do what they like with their bat stickers anyway.

But they do sell bats under their own brand.

MRF started selling bats with their logo on them just so that ST could use them in international matches. It was a way around the restrictions then in force on non bat manufacturers advertising on bats. Currently, a player can have a sports equipment manufacturers' branding on their kit, along with a personal sponsor, eg Andrew Flintoff was sponsored by Barclays Bank

There was a lot of talk of Jones not playing as much cricket this year but i believe he signed a new contract which probably means he'll still play a fair bit. Towards the end of his career so can see why puma may have gone elsewhere. Quite a few keepers floating about without sponsors at the moment
