ENGLAND (10): Charles Bannerman, John Hodges, Tom Kendall, William Midwinter, Percy McDonnell, William Cooper, Henry Musgrove, Hanson Carter, Tony Dell and Andrew Symonds.
SCOTLAND (1): Archie Jackson.
IRELAND (2): Tom Horan, Tom Kelly.
SOUTH AFRICA (1): Kepler Wessels.
NEW ZEALAND (3): Tom Groube, Clarrie Grimmett and Brendon Julian.
INDIA (2): Bransby Cooper and Rex Sellers.
SRI LANKA (1): Dav Whatmore.


Everyone has had players who have represented the national side who weren't born in that country. The England team have had more because our pool of home grown talent hasnt been as good as the Australians.

You can add Khawaja born in Pakistan to that list.  Plus Moses Henriques was born in Portugal as well. 
I remember in the last Ashes the Aussies kept moaning about Trott, Pietersen etc but were more than willing to turn a blind eye to Khawaja

The difference between Khawaja and Henriques compared to Pietersen and Trott is that Khawaja and Henriques moved to Australia very young. So they are essentially Australian. Forget where they where born. They even sound like Australians. They learnt their cricket in Australia.

Pietersen and Trott are South African. They learnt their craft in South Africa. They ditched us to play for England.

SA have done the same with Imran Tahir, what is very clear with South Africa is that they don't need to pick overseas players as their own pool is more than strong enough.

It's easier to get a visa in England as opposed to SA and Aus (especially now with Gillard waving her wand) so that's the main reason we've always had more.

I never wanted Tahir to play for the Proteas. It was just damn wrong.

We have spinners like Robbie Peterson who can do a good job, yet we plumped for a guy Pakistan never even considered...

Peterson looked good when he burst onto the scene years ago, his bowling has improved

Considering your population is massively larger as well and more to choose from you must have a lot of crap cricketers

We do have a lot haha where have you been for the last 15 years? We've been crap until 6 years ago, most of our technically gifted and coordinated sportsmen are lost to the smaller games of football and rugby.

 

Also a larger population doesn't mean better cricketers. A smaller stronger talent pool will outperform a larger pool with less talent. Otherwise the USA and Davion would be killing it.

I'd also say the majority of the US population wouldn't have a clue what cricket is.

The English mindset will always be our downfall, it generates characters like Ravi Bopara and Samit Patel that wince every time it gets tough. These players wouldn't get near the SA team.
