Are there any left arm spinners that have "the one that goes the other way"?
Loads of off spinners have a ball that goes away from the bat, not sure i have seen a leftie with one that turns back into the right hand bat.

Chinamen/Chinaman bowlers of old days were termed as such because they bowled Left handed but it was an off-spinner to right handed bat so it is doable..

and Brad hogg as well...

Perhaps a better ball for the SLA is the one that is angled in towards the stumps and that skids on to claim the LBW?

totally agree, it's the equivalent ball swann has had great success with as an offie, and a ball that Jadeja uses well for India now. I just haven't seen an orthodox left armer turn it the other way.

Yes, but these are wrist spinners. Has there been/ is there a left arm finger spinner that turns one from off to leg as a variation?

I can't think of any doosra bowling left armers. Maybe because the angle when it doesn't spin is just as good?

To get maximum bemusement out of a chinaman it really needs to be bowled from over the wicket 6 inches outside off stump, followed by the wrong 'un in the same place (as if any of us could do that ).

Rangana Herath has a carrom ball, and I think for a while Pragyan Ojha had some semblance of an "other one", but no leftie international spinner aside from those 2 has one I don't think. I personally don't feel that a SLA bowler really needs one at the top level, because as a general rule they will turn it big enough for the arm-ball to be a big threat. At a lower level I think it is a useful tool, because people don't always read it well from the hand, and I've been working (for a few years now) on one that is flicked out like a carrom ball, and against lefties it is almost like bowling a leg-spinner, turns away nicely. But my biggest wicket-taker is the one that skids on, normally I get it to straighten (and turn away a bit) but the one that kicks on is just about the biggest wicket-taker.
And 100% with what Fattus says, the control needed to be a chinaman bowler (if only purely because it isn't as effective to right handers) is ridiculous!

For me it's been just a batting fest. Yes both teams batsmen have made mistakes which has lead to wickets but it's just like being back in India! (although either they/Aus are suddenly awesome bowling sides or the wicket they are on is good if their current score card is anything to go by! 400+ plays 400+.. Draw time

Well, I'm with you on Bell - another pressure situation, another failure.

We'll not challenge for the no1 spot with series performances like this.

I really hope Root and Bairstow make a name for themselves here, and that Prior gets the time to make a big match-changing score.
