I think for a top 2 side where lacking a top class batsman there nothing much there bar the big guns.

Tom, as you know I'll  hope anyone scores if they are playing for England. Doesn't mean I expect a certain someone to actually score anything decent though. :)

I defo (and have been fighting that corner at work with people who think we are world beaters) think we over rate our current team. We are a decent outfit, but we are nothing special. Especially without a fully fit Swann, KP and still two youthful inexperienced batsmen in our top 6 (not that it's a bad thing to bring in new people, just that we can't expect them to hit the ground running!).

Anyway, the two young pups will show us they are the 5 and 6 for the next few years with a 200 run stand :)

In todays cricket you have to add 5 at least to the averages,i like Bell a lot-he's got an awful lot.
It might be thou root, bairstow, maybe morgan end up on his position.
I think we will stick with compton long term so only one spot at 6 will be available...
Interesting selection after this tour i reckon

I'd like them to stick with Compton. I don't think he's done anything wrong and who else is there to open? As for 6, I'd hope Root keeps that spot as well. Morgan is no test player and Root's ahead of Ron Weasley. As for Bell, can't be bothered with him. Looks good, flatters to deceive but doesn't produce the goods when you need him to.

Drop Bell for "Ron Weasley" then...

Root at 5 and Bairstow at 6. Let Bell and Petersen fight for the 4 bearth.

I would but I also think we need some experience in the top 6 given we already have two noobs. Unfortunately it's too close to the Ashes so Bell's going to have to stay I'm afraid. IF the selectors  decided to just rebuild the side (and so gamble on the ashes series) then yes, I'd sack off Bell for Bairstow and move Root to 5. KP would be kept but retired off after the second ashes series. Hopefully then Root will have done well and moved to 4, Bairstow to 5 and Taylor to 6 (if we assume they are the 3 in waiting).
