We had one of our lads run out last season and they took their Albion off and kicked it. The game was then held up while he collected the various bits of his lid from the outfield, it literally shattered when it "met his foot". I'm not sure if this is a scientific test but does that make Masuri safer than Albion as it was still in one piece??
I think the idea that the lid shatters on impact is partially to help defuse the strike, so perversly it may actually be a good thing.
From a safety perspective, the plastic Albion helmets are actially better than the Masuri or Albion ones in my view, because of the shape and strength of visor.
The issue that we have seen, however is that people like to "look the part" so the Masuri is always the first choice - I am as guilty of this as the next person.
The Stig always give me abuse for this...
