The lettering on the gloves is a little bit iffy, but the gloves themselves look nice. I like the pads but again, not keen on the lettering. Blank they would be really nice...Bats look superb...it's only the lettering I'm not keen on overall. The logo itself is nice.

I'm still confused as to why Salix decided to set up another brand for this. Surely it would have been better to do a more 'price point' range with Salix stickers to allow people to join the 'Salix' club at a more affordable price? Ease them in gently so to speak! If Salix stand by the quality and workmanship of the product, as I'm sure they do, then I can see no reason to spend thousands on a re-branding? It comes across as if they don't really want it associated with Salix and I would have thought that is the very thing you would want in a 'budget' range!  An association with one of the best around?

Anyway, I like the gear and I'm glad it's on sale...

I guess they don't want the Salix name associated with anything but the highest quality of bats, etc.

Having had time to get used to the branding and digest it, I think that the pads and gloves would be better (and more subtle) without the 'HITS' and 'HARD' writing - but with the HH it would look nicer IMO.
And I am quite liking the bats - 60s diner but very bold idea and looks interesting.
I'm sure performance will be decent as AK knows how to press bats superbly, so have little doubt these will go well.
Best of luck with these  8)

Kit looks good... Not a fan of the letters across the glove fingers... Looks like a jail tatt

Just a bit of fun...

Fair play though, certainly the designs of the kit caught my attention and the Salix - HH brand relationship is a bit like Lexus - Toyota, no problem with that.
Good luck with it all.

There is the glove for 2014 ! ;) I really like the pads, not sure on the gloves but would think they are a grower.........

i'd say this type of branding is ideal for the fearless juniors coming into playing the game nowadays that have grown up on outrageous shots like the reverse lap and dilscoop... maybe this will tick all their boxes. And they are the future

If you're going for the 'Boom Boom' market, then I think the HITS HARD on the knuckles looks awesome, and an impressive piece of inspiration to think of linking the tattoo thing to a 'punishing' glove! Something very different and as previously mentioned, a nice swerve from the (however understandably) typical designs we see. Though tbh I'm a fussy old oik when it comes to designs, and commenting on 'modern' softs/stickers design makes me feel like I'm tutting and shaking my head at kids and their pop music if it ain't classic looking!

I think I may have missed a memo, but what is the Salix/Soulman/HH link? Is AJK making bats for Soulman to sell as HH? Or is Soulman running a division of Salix called HH aimed at cornering the kidz market?

Best of luck though...TBH I wouldn't know where to begin with creating a brand image that wasn't heavily borrowed from something previous, which this definitely doesn't feel like it is, so kudos for these designs.

Hi mate my connection is that I work at Salix on a part time basis, learning the trade etc, I am involved on the HitsHard side with local players and anyone that is interested in the brand, this allows Andrew to concentrate on the bat making side of things and all things involved with Salix.

Thanks for your comments mate.

Hi guys

Following the various discussions on HitsHard Andrew Kember just asked me to include this statement from him as clearly the wedsite is not yet finished.

“HitsHard is a new sister brand to Salix, made by us but aimed at a slightly different audience as it hits lower price points. Concentrating grading onto performance, the bats are still manufactured from the top grades of willow, but will feature more two tone timber.

With flatter faces, huge edges and outrageous power these bats do indeed Hit Hard but there's also Salix finesse in their pick up and finish. They have their own identity and real soul with classic '50s styling (think diners and embossed Greyhound chrome), but we have also raided the Salix archives for cutting paths and details like the flared labels at the toe. The seniors are in two grades (Super Grade One and Super Power), juniors in Super Power only.  Equipment includes a wheeled kitbag, duffle, pads and gloves all now available; these have all been designed as we do Salix, so originally drawn, but are supposed to be fun, to have a slightly cheekier image, hence the name Mojo.

There is also a more serious side in that I want HitsHard to be a development brand, to help us expand our apprenticeships to train up more batmakers in manufacturing from the cleft, so they can cut their teeth on HitsHard. This reflects my own training and where my real passion and commitment lie.

There will of course be more information soon on the website, but the bats and kit are ready to go and available from the workshop or through Facebook.  If anyone has any queries, I am, as always, available to speak to directly at the workshop.

Many thanks,
Andrew”

Good to see the man putting his name to it though...I still don't quite get why it wouldn't have been done under the Salix name (for cost reasons if nothing else!) and I baulk at the mention of grading on 'performance' as, to my mind there is no such thing, then again we are talking about AK so if anyone has discovered a fool proof way of doing this it would probably be him! Having said all that, I like the gear, not keen on the lettering but other than that it looks great and the association with Salix (which should be pushed more not less!) makes me think it's probably of a high quality...

I'd really like one of those bats...... :D
