So much love for the Thruxton, but so much hate for the Tomahawk, and yet they're practically the same bat - are decals (STICKERS) really so important when it comes to choosing a bat?!

Pro grain sheets, different oval handle, dropped profile, ugly stickers all things the Thruxton hasn't got plus its been out for a good 4/5 years (I think) so has built up a following.

I think the tomahawk would've sold so well if it had really classic stickers similar to the cenkos or spitfire.

I reckon it matters. When everything else is the same then aesthetics will surely come into the equation. Having said that Chad's Tomahawk does seem to have a bigger spine than normal Thruxtons.

The pro-grain only exists in the 5 Star grade.  Get up to the Players and SPS grades and you have pretty much the same bat, just with different stickers - at least that applies to all the ones I've seen and stocked.  Chad's might be a one-off...

For me personally yes, a bat has to look good as well as perform well, and some STICKERS just look poor. Looks like a shared opinion from people's opinions on the Tomahawk

What do Thruxton lovers think of the GT 335? Is it a loved or disliked sibling?

Haven't seen one! I'm not saying it will change your view of the Thruxton, but you need to appreciate the GT 335.

I was originally looking for a Cadbury GT (also 5 star) as I wanted a lighter pickup and I really liked the Cadbury stickers. But I kept an open mind and asked Paul (IJC) to also look out for Thruxtons when he went to pick his Newburys.

Paul sent me some pics. The GT looked really good grain wise whereas the Thruxton was a bit of a mess. Also the profile of this years GT seems to have an even higher middle which I thought was a little too high. But Paul told me the Thruxton was a real pinger, had a much bigger sweetspot and noticeably more responsive towards the toe.

The rest is history and here I am in this thread singing its praises! And thanks again to Paul for picking me a real beauty! :)

Used my Thruxton 5* for the first time in nets, really really impressed.

This will definetely going to be my match bat next season. Apart from bottom 2-3 inches whole area covered with anti scuff sheet feels like the middle.
