Hi guys,
This is my first post on this forum. I had bought these bats off Paul a couple of months or so ago, but I didn’t get around to writing up a review that I promised to do for Paul. I think Paul has already made a couple of posts on these bats a while back. I have never really done a bat review like this but I’ll do my best to write something half decent.
My initial specs were for two Supremes at 3lb 6oz and 3lb 8oz inclusive of two grips which I always use as I feel that helps with the balance of the bat (even after accounting for the additional weight of the grip). Both bats weigh a tad over 3.7 on my scale, which is fine by me as I have happy with a difference of plus or minus an ounce as a general rule. I still haven’t had a chance to knock them in and test them out so this is really still a first impressions review.
The bats balance beautifully, and probably feel more like a 3.4. In terms of dimensions, the edges are about 45mm and the spines about 70mm so they are quite huge, with the edge thickness running pretty much through the entire bat.
In terms of performance, they seem to ping as well as anything I have ever used. In the photos below I compare it with a CJI Fatso LE (Kashmir willow) that weigh 4lb 2oz and my Laver and Wood Special reserve (that is 3lb 11oz). So far I have never come across any bat that comes close to those in terms of how a ball pings off the bat – it is literally weightless. I don’t think I can give more praise to Paul’s bats than to say that the ball pings off the Supremes as well as those two bats (the Fatso being almost a pound heavier and the L&W being about 4 oz more).
Paul has already posted quite a few pictures of these bats on their own, so I thought it might be interesting to compare with some of my other bats. Below I am comparing it with my GN oblivion extreme at 3.3 (have a couple of other GNs that are bigger and heavier), the CJI Fatso and L&W, as well as a Stanford Limited Edition which is 2.10 (a more regular sort weight for a cricket bat). Apologies in advance for the not great images, these are from my phone.
Apart from the quality of bats themselves, I would have to say Paul’s service was fantastic. He started working on my bats the day after I made payment and had them done in a couple of days and posted soon after.
All in all, it was great to deal with Paul, and I’d be happy to recommend him to anyone. Also I wouldn’t have come across Paul if not for this forum, so hope you guys keep up the great work with this forum.
Cheers
