Stafford Grammar School. No sight screens but green all around, motorway on one side and every time I've had to play there it's rained or has rained before the game so it's a mud bath. Changing rooms are in another post code too.

I played at a ground last season where the actual pitch and outfield was fine, in fact I really enjoyed bowling on it, it turned miles and even bowling left arm round to a left hander I could get it to spin from well outside off back onto the stumps. However when it came to batting on it we had trouble with the rain as it bucketed down about 15 overs or so in and running between the wickets became dangerous but the umpire wouldn't let us go off for the rain and we had several players slip over. Eventually the light became very bad and seeing the ball became a challenge. The pitch itself wasn't bad it was mainly the conditions that made it horrific to play on.

Westleigh Methodists, nice pavillion (no bar for obvious reasons) but the actual ground itself is shocking. Horse poo everywhere, bleak surroundings, constant bad smell from both the Patak's factory about 100 yards away and the horse poo. Teas have been terrible as well, just some biscuits and crisps between us all.

Stevenage (not the main ground where 1st and 2nd play) the park next door where my standard have to play.....dog poo, drunks, women of the night, ex cons and that was just our team!

That has never looked the best pitch from the road!

We're blessed with generally good grounds in Yorkshire, and in our league. But the only ground that disappointed last season was Millhouses Works CC. The ground itself is in a nice location, in Millhouses park. But you have to go down a slope akin to something you'd find in Val D'isere to get to it and there's very little parking. Getting back out again though is a nightmare! Playing on the same weekend as Cliffhanger Festival didn't help parking, but that's just bad luck.

The surface itself is well maintained, outfield is well managed but the ends of the square are on a slope so you have bowlers fighting for the end going downhill! Doesn't help that the edge of the square is on a plateau, so the bowlers have to adjust as they get into their delivery stride. I guess if you don't own your ground there's little incentive to sort it.

Pavilion looks a little tired and the changing rooms aren't really big enough for 11 blokes to stand in never mind with 11 bags. Being in a park the only toilets are public ones which are well... Public toilets.

Tea wasn't bad though and the scorer was a fit early 20's/late 'teens (Safe to look) brunette. Not sure if anyone actually watched the cricket on offer tbh.

Oh and we won, and that's all that really matters, right?

Broughton CC...Scunthorpe, poor ground, terrible people (bystanders etc not the players) shame as track is ok despite vandalism and they have some obviously committed long serving players...why they play there is beyond me. One to avoid in the future.

Brocklesby Park, owned by some multimillionaire, set within his 27 thousand acres of land.. The changing rooms are a wooden shed with no running water, car parking in a cow field..

Looks like u guys had a tough time yesterday. Looking forward to the cup game.  In contrast to Broughton, Hirst Priory has to be up there with the top grounds going, big well done on the new pavillion.  Looking forward to playing there soon.

Yes - tough welcome to the Prem.
The new pavilion is awesome and the ground's looking great at the moment, just need the team to back it up.
See you in a few weeks (if I don't get dropped before!)

The worst are grounds where the square is in the middle of a massive windswept multi-sports complex surrounded by football pitches where there is no real pavilion, just a scorers hut and a changing room about a mile's walk away, and every time there is a boundary you have to run about 500m just to fetch the ball.

Its nice to play on a good track, but actually I'm just as happy playing on a cabbage patch as long as the settings are suitably bucolic.
