You can get more than 1000. I got 2500 runs in 2 seasons out of my mH distinction and now it has split. Probably due to it drying out

I think 1000 is some kind of average/ yardstick - obviously there will be variation.

How many times did you oil your M&H Distinction? 2500 runs in two seasons is good going! (For you, I mean.)

I hope bats last more than 1000 runs!! I'm already nearing 500 for this season and it's only may!! Looks like I'll need a new bat before the end of the season at this rate :(

Nearing it, Iv just passed it after this weekend. In all honesty I have always looked after all my bats and like people have said at the end of each season sent to bat maker for full refurb, sand oil etc and I have a couple of bats that must be approaching 3000 runs between me and other players that have used them and they are still perfectly good bats.

If you allow a bat to dry out of just think that once you have bought a bat you never have to look after it or do anything than it will become a plank sooner than most.

It was more a dig at the people who constantly demand to open or get stroppy :) I've spent the last 6 months being told constantly you need to be x or y player to open and it used to make me laugh and now I'm doing it it still makes me laugh.

A long hop is a long hop, whatever stage of the innings.

think I've owned my woodworm flame since around 2007, I know I've had a break of 3 years but means it was used for all nets and games for 3 seasons scoring way more than 1000 runs. I'd say that the bat is feeling at its best with the knock of 54 the other day, still getting me out of stupid shots with its performance. I do maintain my bat by removing scuff sheet then sanding, tiny dab of oil and reapply scuff sheet.

I've noticed the opposite - my 'planks' turning into great bats in the hands of a decent batsman!  :(
