Proudest moment in your cricketing career
« on: June 03, 2013, 10:09:26 AM »

May it be bowling, batting, a blinder of a catch, anything !!

I'll start with mine, scoring 104 on a bowling pitch, and nearly leading the team to victory.

Scoring 187 not out to beat the previous club record of 165.
Had only been at the club since the start of the season.

one and only 50 even though we lost and my bowling figures were an abomination, i managed to top score and carry my bat:
http://cb.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=10982319

And my playing for my schools 1XI i was given a rare opportunity to bowl and too 7-3-9-5 the week later we played the local village in a friendly although it was rain affected i proved to the coach that i should have batted where i felt i should have (top 3) not at 10/11 by hitting 20 odd on a mud bath and rugby pitch for an out field

Being greedy I have a few that I can't decide between, none of which are amazing but are good for me.

5 wickets and 5 catches on my uni debut, opening the bowling with my dad years ago in a 2nd XI game, scoring my first 50 in my first game back after 10 years of not playing or last one is a 90 run partnership with my brother with my parents watching us.

A couple come to mind that go close - captaining my team to a premiership in about under 16s and also making the seniors second XI at 15, but it'd probably be my first five-for in senior cricket. I was also really proud of a teammate who scored his first hundred in the season just gone; mainly because he's a mate but also because he and I (and a couple of others) did a lot of net work in the offseason and it was unbelievable to see it pay off for him.

Three for me if I may.

First was scoring my first ton in a T20 over game chasing down 154 to win in 19.3 overs. It was especially sweet as the opposition had sledged us mercilessness when they batted! And then shown us no respect when they bowled by smoking in the field and bringing on various drinks etc.

2nd was watching my son score his first hindered. I was out injured with a broken finger and scored his whole innings = very proud Dad.

Finally last season scoring my 10,000 run for my midweek / Sunday friendly team - my Dad who started my love of the game and is still my hero at 76 was there to watch it happen and i must admit some dust or grit found it's way into my eye.

Great memories & good thread.

Well after being naff over the last couple of years with will have to be yesterdays game.

After failing to set a score over the last few games, we was chasing 204. I came in at 3 with 10overs gone and about 80 on the board, I played the supporting role to the openers 109, of which I then stuck out with the next couple of batsmen, hitting the remaining runs with a 6, 1, 4, 4 to finish off the win in good style. The only issue being what I ended up on. Some people believe i was left on 49* being 1 run off my first 50, some believe 43*. Being someone who doesn't count as they go on, I would think it was the latter 43* and supporting the opener on a well deserved ton.

Think mine would probably be taking the final wicket in our annual game against a touring side to win the match and complete my 1st Michelle.

Do have fond memories of playing in our 4th XI back in 2007, me and my best mate walked off together after we put on an unbeaten 25 for the last wicket to get maximum batting points and win the game, the whole team gave us a standing ovation for it. We were 2 very happy 13 year olds after that haha

Tricky one - won 5 League/Division trophies with various teams and a few cup comps, all proud moments. Individually, taking 8-12 and winning the Crawley Observer Bowling Award in 2000 or scoring 1000 runs in a season in 1996. Though skippering a t20 final win when you are 24-7 off 8 overs was an achievement:-

mine is a game i was playing for cheshire last year vs nottingham

we were playing at my now home pitch(hawk green cc) and the track wasn't great, we got put into bat first and within the first 10 or so overs their opening bowler (quickest and best bowler ive faced to date and i play 4 games a week at all levels inc senior) had ripped through our top order, i had been put down to 6 but was in after a few overs at 30 odd for 4. Me and one of my best mates who also plays at hawk green (number 4 in the order) had a partnership of 150 odd and me hitting 72 of 70 balls and him getting 77 i think of around 90 balls and we went on to thrash probably the best county at our age, great day.

Opening the bowling at Lord's and taking a couple of wickets. Who cares what we scored, whether we won or what the figures were!

Come on to bowl with the opposition scoring an easy 60 odd in the first few overs, end up taking 6 for 8 off 5 overs. Virtually unplayable then took a catch in the covers. Finally opened the batting and scored 27 before holing out in the deep. Although we lost the run chase I top scored, took the most catches and took the most wickets!
