Hottest weather you have played cricket in
« on: July 15, 2013, 02:05:37 PM »

With this fine weather I was wondering what's the hottest conditions everyone has played in. I expect our Aussie members to beat us hands down but I do have an early runner:-

August 9/10th 2003 were incredibly hot. I was actually playing 2 miles from Heathrow on the Sunday when it reached 38c but there was a breeze which made it just about ok. The Saturday despite in theory being slightly lower had no breeze and it was like a furnace. Played at Royal Ascot 3s and the ground had no shade. One of our lads went home by 4pm with sunstroke and he was just watching as we were batting. We ground the oppo into the dirt as they took 4 hours and 3 drinks breaks to bowl 52 overs. Remember having a big partnership with one guy where we literally walked singles for about an hour, both us and the oppo weren't rushing anywhere!

I'm sure a few people have played in hotter conditions!

I've had plenty of games at lower temperatures where the humidity has been horrible and you can't get through more than a half dozen overs. Marlow, being close to the Thames, use to really bad but the ball certainly swung.

Was in Dubai a couple of years ago, and went for a game with my cousin. it was august and it was like playing in a furnace. its gets as high as 49c, i haven't a clue what the temperature was at the time, all i could see when i looked across the pitch was heat lines rising toward the heavens. A lot of people had heatstroke.

I second this being myself based in Dubai and played a lot of matches with Mercury touching 45 degree plus -----

42c in Oz, played one game whilst on holiday for my brother in laws team. Going from English winter to playing a game in that - I'm just sweating again thinking about it!

I missed out on playing on the 9th as I was getting married!  I think I got lucky - our opening bowler managed to tear several intercostals muscles in the process of keeling over after just four overs!

I live in Gravesned and remember that day, according to play cricket I was playing at Mepham which is about 2 miss from Gravesend. Played in India when I went to a friends wedding about 6 years ago and the humidity was worse than the heat.

Hottest I played in was about 40ish in Brisbane but I remember that day in 2003! Was playing away at Sevenoaks Vine. Got absolutely steaming and went to bed at about 6. That was good at the time but the game of cricket was just a joke!
