I have just ordered an Aldred bat. I have liked the look of all the ones that I have seen so far.

I have no doubt any of the forum sponsors could make a bat as good if not better than anyone out there.... Guaranteed you wouldn't regret it

Yes my H4L has done alright but when I had it taken to salix I found out that when i had asked for it to be 2lb 14oz from H4L, It actually turned out to weight nearly 3lb!!! Also not much weight could be taken off as it had quite tight grains, meaning that the bat could split during a game

Sounds good, had you used a shoulder less bat before???? Does it feel the same as a traditional bat???? Sorry for all the questions, its just i havent experienced a bat like the TT. The only Newbery i have used is my bro's Thruxton, which was a fantastic bat!!!

wow!!! i didnt know that. Salix does sound like the obvious choice, its quite close to me. Also i have the 2012 pads, gloves and bag. But their bats can be quite expensive, so i may have to go 50/50 with my dad. I've always liked the warsop bats, i dont know why

You do know there's 16oz in a pound, so to say it weighs nearly 3lbs is like an extra 1.5oz, which a bat can easily pick up in moisture.

And the amount of grains shouldn't affect reducing weight, they could have scooped some out of the back of the middle.

yes i know there is 16 oz in 1 lb. but it read on the scales 2lb 15.89oz which is practically 3lb. According to Mr Kember, he said that he copuldnt take to much wood off as the grains were quite close together (tight) and this could cause some cracking/ splitting if too much wood was taken off. Also i payed £225 for the bat, so i expected it to be everything i had specified

thats fair enough what andy said, but, your point about it being bang on spec isnt entirely valid, because at one stage it probably was what you specified, for example, as banksy said it has probably gained an ounce or so in moisture, that is perfectly feesable, and not Matts fault.

He's right because if wood was removed from the toe and shoulders it may be more susceptible to cracking if struck on the extremities. But you can take wood from elsewhere.

Whats a custom Gray Nicolls like???? I was thinking of going down to their factory and getting one made to my specs. whats the cost for a custom made bat???

I know Vitas do them for £325, But that doesn't cover a visit to the factory.
