In that case just report them, as that's now against the rules :)

I don't feel that strongly about it tbh, just think the more sponsors and knowledgeable people on here the better. It's been a while since I feel like I got much real insight on anything on here.

To summarise, the nice guy introduced himself and his company. He was welcomed and gently introduced to the sponsorship route, so that he would know not to start trading like ebay straight away!
Another Admin saw fit to lock the topic as we have seen this happen many times before! And quite frankly, with the issue recently you can't blame Admin for having a 'better safe than sorry' attitude, no matter how harsh you think it is.

The guy is not banned and is still more than welcome to join in the forum and if he would like to trade, he is welcome to look into becoming a sponsor as well!
We try as much as we can to protect the forum and it's members - and hope that members realise this.

I agree I had a good talk today about new drying techniques being used and handle technology mate all very good.

Also talked to him ref real grade 1 willow

Seems like this forum is either full over overhyped grade 2 and 3 or we have the entire supply of grade 1 willow
Apparently there a massive shortage

Its a shame we dont get more input, sharing and information from the forum sponsors about what they do. We are all here for the love of the equipment and the game and we are curious buggers. I like the fact that Paul Aldred enjoys sharing insights into what he does and behind the scenes.

I can see why, as sponsors pay for the privilege to express their brand, but then there is the bat makers shed not sure how that works fee wise.

But then I do understand the general user, if I say posted about the company im sure it wouldn't be locked. There was no promotions, just I am here have a nice day.

Yup, I love learning more. Wasn't really sure if I'd just been here too long and knew it all - like some members ;) - or that the current sponsors just didn't share much info.

Whatever your opinion of them Tomgoose and SAF Andy were great to have posting regularly.

and you have proof of what you say?

1 - Is there a cost to be in there?
2 - Is there any restriction on who could put information in there?

If the answers are "NO and NO", "YES and NO" or "YES and YES" then it is fine.  If it is "NO and YES" then it would deem to be unfair without knowing the restrictions.

Personally, I like it.  I think it really helps the little people get exposure and show their skills.  These (Ryan, Dom etc.) are also the ones who post the most about bat making and techniques so they benefit the forum greatly.

It's YES - there is a cost and YES it's has to be an aspiring batmaker - not a full time business as such, though I suppose it doesn't have to be batmaking.
