Probably because he doesn't average 125 with the bat and 15 dismissals per test

I dont want to start up an arguement but except that NZ test when he made 100 and 70, from the tour to dubai against Pakistan till now I did'nt see any outstanding performance from him. I'm not saying he was always overrated.

He averages 50 in Australia and in India.

He scored 118 to set up the innings victory in Sydney to secure the ashes down under.

He has played 5 games since his 110* and 70.

Surely the sign of a best player is to adapt to any situation which Prior hasn 't done in ODI's. Superb batsman and excellent keeping to seamers.

Ok - your opinion although I seriously doubt that many people who follow cricket would agree, unless they are deluded.
In tests I would choose Prior every time. In ODIs I would pick Buttler/Bedwetter,etc!
I find it funny that he is so aggressive in tests sometimes and would expect him to bat better in ODIs, and yet he is definitely a far superior batsman in Tests than ODIs!

But I guess it's similar to Dhoni who is a reasonably decent Test batsman but is superior in ODIs!
I guess it is about translating the way they play into the format!
