Just noticed that our league table looks very odd at the end of the season.

Team with highest number of wins finished second(due to massive point deduction following a mass brawl during one of their games). Team who finished bottom won more than both of the teams above them(lost tons of points due to calling off 2 games due to lack of players) and then due to the average points system we somehow ended up 4th even though we only won 6 of our 14 games(the equal lowest amount out of all of the top 7 teams)

Essentially to say we were lucky to finish 4th would be an understatement!

Regardless, a decent year however with the top team probably not being promoted(would be promoted into a new league where you need additional facilities) again it means the quality will improve substantially again next year so it is going to be even harder to keep our mid-table spot.

Successful season as a club, winning the league at both 1st and 2nd XI level, and a modest first season for me. 58 runs at an average of 7.5, with 4 DNB's and two ducks (which followed my DNB games. Coincidence? I think not). 6 recorded dismissals behind the stumps, which I think is actually 7, but I'm not going to argue over one unrecorded catch. Lots of hard work planned during the winter, and then hopefully a better return with both bat and gloves in Division 2 next summer. It seems a long, long time away right now...

One game left but here goes...

My targets were as follows:

Score 500 saturday league runs
Improve my wicket keeping (& continue to provide backup for the 1st team keeper who inevitably misses a game or 2 a season)

My results:

567 league runs at an average of 40 (3rd in the division)
8 fifties (1st in the entire league, all divisions)
29 dismissals (17c, 11s, 1ro) (1st in the entire league, all divisions)

Really really pleased with my season. My team has won every time I have posted a 50. My glovework is vastly improved and I stand up to all but the out-and-out quicks now - even taking leg side stumpngs.

If I was going to be critical I'd say that I should have gone on to get more scores in the 80+ range, but I have been run out by my teammates twice after passing 50. Desperately want to get a big score in our final game on Saturday!

The first team got promoted into the prem div for the first time in the clubs history.. and at 19 cant think of a better thing since i started playing.. also im the only person to score a league ton for us this year ... So my years been pretty good !

we won the league surprisingly.

1st time we have won DIV1

i finished up with

800 1st team runs avg of 36(not 100% happy with the avg)

and 255 t20 runs avg of 63.3.

Skippered this year and my side got relegated. 

Only 3 players scored runs this season, opening bat with 800 at 60, myself and an all rounder both scored 400+ at 27-28.  Aside from that nobody scored 200+

Bowling wise nobody took above 10 wickets in an 18 match season, with my death bowler and 2 spinners being taken by the first team.  Things got so desperate for a spinner that I didn't keep for the second half of the season and played as a batsman part time spinner at times.

An average of 3-4 catches dropped per match in a good standard league, the signs were there all along.

An embarrassing season all in all.

No skippering for me next year, focus on my keeping and batting, try and push on for ones.

well I improved from last years average of 6 to 17 this year, which for me is a massive improvement. Ive been added to top 4 this year which has helped my game move on a bit. I know im not the best player or batter, but I have found I have been able to support other players.

But I have also had no luck this year, I have not been dropped once all season, while others have been dropped 4 times in a game. But I should not be hitting it in the air to fielder, as none of the catches have been outstanding.

Next year my plan is to improve my batting and maybe come in at 5. But I also want to keep wicket so there is plenty of work to do in the off season.
