Got it back!

Cracks still on the face but glued down.

All cracks have been glues shut, the surface is very smooth. Maybe I was expecting to much but i thought it would atleast come back one colour, lol

Let me know your thoughts.

I think they would have had to sand large amounts off to get it back to one colour. You would have ended up with a much smaller bat! It is a sympathetic refurb retaining its character I think.

I think us bat lovers(me included) sometimes expect too much. We expect a bat that used and old to come back looking like a bat we've had refubed after 1 years use !

Not sure yet. The bat has plenty of life left in it, ball is still bouncing off well.

I agree. I did over oil it back in 1995, back then I did not know much better.

I thought it would look better as well. I did a refurb on my old man's GN purely for decoration (handle was busted). It was 40 years old and started like this:-

Does anyone remember that Laver PB that was literally falling apart that James Laver asked to refurb? Now that was repaired with love.

The oil would have been fairly deep so would need a lot of sanding.  I think it would have looked better to re-oil rather than scuff sheet.  The oil would have made the blade more similar colour.

Absolutely, that was a refurb to be hold!

How certain are you that this would work? I could try it on the back to see it it works. If it does I can do the front!
