How To Stay Awake - Ashes 13/14
« on: November 20, 2013, 09:13:18 AM »

I know there's an old topic (2010) on this, thought it would be interesting to see how people are managing to stay up all night this time round?!

Personally, going to try sleep from 6ish through till 11.30 and try see two sessions....not sure how successful that will be.

Well, the plan is to wait for the Mrs to fall asleep on the sofa (usually around 10.30), then overdose on caffeine. Probably pass out around 4am (or during the lunch break as usually happens), blearily wake up at 6am and then wonder how much sleep I can get in the toilets at work.

Yeah I'm not sure how I'm going to manage it. Not sure I can square going to bed at 6pm with the Mrs. Might have to make it a 9pm bed time followed by a 4am wake up to catch the rest of the days play with a full English in front of the telly.

The pommie-bashing has been noticable by it's absence this time around - signs of a 'too close to call series' maybe?

I've missed Glenn McGrath predicting a 5-0 whitewash - ahhhh, those were the days!

I think I should have just taken a few days off. Or suggested that I work from our Singapore office....oh hang on...that's a great idea! holiday and cricket!!

Only a legend like McGrath can get away with those kind of predictions Fattus

I'm relying on Aus playing well for at least an hour a day to make me go to sleep. Nothing works better than England being 30-3 to jack it in and get off to sleep.

Think if England bat first and lose Carbs early, I shall take the Trott/Cook partnership as plenty sign to get some sleep!

Chances of me sleeping between 6 and 11.30 before start of play is slim, I'll probably end up falling asleep at the lunch session, beats listening to Healy and Taylor.

Plan is to sleep 7-midnight. Then watch midnight to 5pm. Quick 30 min sleep, get into the office for 7 watch the last hour till 8, quick session of highlights in case I missed anything with impromptu naps and then work 8.30.

The thing I'm trying to work out is with the canteen having sky sports how I'm gonna afford the full fry up every morning!

Being a Pom in Australia has it's advantages of being able to watch the cricket live. Whether this will be a blessing or curse is yet to be seen, lets hope we play well...

If I were, I would probably Sky+ it.

Get in and set the recording.  Sleep from 7ish till 2 or 3am.  get up and watch the recording, that way you can fast forward through adverts, drinks breaks and lunch/tea.  By the time morning comes around, you'll have probably caught up.
