I like this game!!

England call up 1 player from each of the U15s, U17s, U19s to disguise Joe Root in the middle order and removing pressure from him.
All England players are given Instructions to grow facial hair in attempt to find Samson powers. Joe Root allowed to have one knitted for him.
England bring back the bold chest lettering on their strip, only for the word to be mirrored like an Emergency response Vehicle as this has proven a successful way to get ahead of people on British roads.
Joe Root allowed to have lights in the heels of his spikes which flash when he runs.
Very cruel..... knitted for him....thats hilarious

Yeah Joe Root took a bit of a bashing, I've nothing against him, it was just a case of easy target.

Wasn't that what Dave Warner said too????

Well cricinfo reckon Carberry for Root, but no change in the bowling, therefore no spinner.

I'd go with -

Bell
Carberry
Ballance
Morgan
Bopara
Buttler
Stokes
Broad
Jordan
Tredwell
Briggs

I would make Broad play (b*gger giving him a rest, his country needs him), yes briggs and Tredwell - why not - what have we got to lose? and Wankin can take a blow for me.

I know the real side will not be anywhere as near as adventurous as this, but hey ho!

It's difficult to balance the side at the mo - which 5 bowlers should play, and how far down can we bat?

If they can't get a balanced side from this squad they might as well resign now. Between Bopara, Stokes and one from Tredwell and Briggs they should be able to get a minimum of 20 overs. That leaves 3 quicks and 5 batsman with Buttler one of them. If Woakes plays you have a front line bowler who was also considered good enough to be a test match no.6 only a short time ago. I'd go:
Carberry
Bell
Balance
Morgan
Bopara
Buttler
Stokes
Woakes
Jordan
Bresnan
Tredwell

Having looked at the numbers from the last 2 seasons of 40 over cricket, going on runs scored and wickets taken the team should be:

Carberry
Luke Wright
Vince
James Taylor
Malan
Trego
Mustard
Chris Wood
Shahzad
Rushworth
Jack Shantry

If the ECB valued the 40 over competition as a feeder to the ODI team then there should be more than just Carbs from this list in the ODI squad. However, I imagine this team would be quickly despatched in an ODI in the real world

Also there does seem to now be a genuine hallmark of Ashley Giles on the team. A team of allrounders with Buttler & Stokes at 7 and 8 smacks very much of the Warwickshire way of late, and flies totally in the face of Andy Flower's previous ideas of 5 genuine bowlers and let the runs be scored by the top 6 (Remember Bresnan at 7!?!?)

Stokes has proven he can bat top seven and bowl ten so the side should be five frontline batsmen, him, Buttler, five bowlers - since the bowlers would likely include Bresnan and Broad we are hardly short of batting (bear in mind Chris Jordan is a decent bat at FC level too)
