What Standard Do You Play At?
« on: January 22, 2014, 03:42:39 PM »

After reading kit lists and seeing PB's in some people sigs, I was just wondering to what standard do people play at on here. I get the distinct impression everyone plays substantially better cricket than I do?

I currently play in the Cambs Cricket Assoc Jnr 1, but have played to Snr 1 standard with my previous team which sadly folded after a 60 consecutive year presence in the CCA leagues! (In my area there is the East Anglian prem, Tucker Leagues 1/2, Snr 1,2,3, Jnr 1,2,3,4,5)

Be interested to know where people ply their trade?

I think it is hard to judge on standards as all leagues will vary in quality.

I play for Chobham 1's in the Surrey Fullers 2nd Division.

Who do you play for? I play for St Ives and played a few 2nd team games in Junior 1 (i think) last season.

I play for Cambourne, universally hated due to a few choice trappy numpties, not really my 1st choice but I live there so its convinient, I minced between 1s and 2s last year but don't think I played St Ives, I did play St Ives when I played at Stapleford, funnily enough we had a pony team out that day many years ago and go stuffed, lovely ground though!!

South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League - Division 1

Seeing as you was at our level in the ydcl, before moving, what do you rate the syscl divisions like in comparison?

Be interesting to meet in the midweek league next year too. See if you've moved up a level in play.

Have played at WEPL prem 2 level (very briefly), and have steadily dropped down the leagues as the hunger is diminishing slightly and I can't be bothered with the travelling. Still playing what I believe to be a fairly useful standard, with some very good players, if not full teams, in Somerset Shrubbery 1 for Ilton! Not sure how much longer I will be playing though as I'm enjoying time with the other half, and being outdoors walking and riding more fun.

We are in the north league and you are in the south so are not technically in the same league. If you fancy a change of scenery, we cater for all abilities and we are only 15 minutes up the road.

the Jnr leagues are like that in Cambs, I once played in a cow field with an electric fence to keep out the cows, i think someone had got on their ride on mower to cut out the pitch/outfield!!

@Wayward, I maybe tempted depending on whether the club pulls its fingers out of its you know what, so will see how things are at the end of the year, I've looked at Histon, Hardwick and Milton all of which have decent clubs.

I have played in Tucker 1 for a while Dunc.

We are back in Tucker 2 this year after forming a new club and starting again as it were.

The East Anglian Prem is a very good standard by all reports. If we were to ever win Tucker 1 and by some miracle negotiate the playoffs i would almost certainly get myself a nice comfortable gig in the 2's as i know i would be little more than a bit part player at that level.

I've played against Cambourne, can't say i remember any helmets to be honest. I'll be calling by to drop off your goodies at your workplace in Somersham tomorrow on my way to Hunts mate. :)
