Its not to do with UK v Asia, it is that the aims of the companies are different. Some big UK firms have outsourced the production of bats and so the Asian market has competed to win this trade on price, starting to change now a bit. The remaining UK market has tried to improve its product to sit above on quality and price. The Asians will catch up and want to.

This debate is getting interesting.

I think no bat maker can make 100% top quality bats. There can be bats within their top range that may perform better than others and bats from a lower grade perform better than the top of the range.

The bat the best way to choose the bat is to go by the feel, pick-up and balance. Followed by ping and looks and lastly the brand. And while buying a bat online, you tend to focus more on the looks rather than the pick-up and feel.

I have owned and used a lot of bats (as most people on this forum will be well aware of). The 2 best bats I have got till now are the NB UZI C6+ (which I had to sell off as I did not like the feel of the C6 handle) and the other being my Kookaburra RP. Speaking very honestly, my off the shelf NB Uzi C6+ played and felt better than the custom made Newbery SPS bats . My Kahuna RP can take on any bat by a major UK / AUS or whereever bat maker in terms of feel, pick-up balance, ping and looks (though only 9 grains).

I feel the debate about UK vs Row is totally baseless and Indian and Pak companies make bats for loads and loads on international pros (probably more than NB and other major UK based bat companies put together). If the quality of these bats was poor why would pros use them?

Bats are meant to hit the ball further!!! yes, but it is not 100% dependent on the quality of the bat The guy hitting the ball has more important role in that. Also going by the recent CT games, I guess the game is about scoring runs and not just trying to clear boundary.

Every company has the right to make a few rubbish bats and its just an individuals luck if he gets given that rubbish.

One point I complete agree is that the Asia based batmakers need to learn the art of finishing their bats.

I think is someone is in a position to and sells quality bats for cheap, then we should respect him. Just because the bat is being sold cheap and is made in India or Pak does not i ply that the quality is poor.

Mike sells NB bats for very cheap (at trade price if I may say so) and maybe the guy at online stockist is doing the same. How they can do so? Is a question that can be best answered by the seller. As a buyer I am after the best bat, I can get and at the cheapest price.

Interesting about the brands as why do we have loyalty to them? Some will be after the look and association with the sponsored players, some will know that a brand offers more bat for your money. When you get to make bats you see that some of the buying points are valid and some trash.

Willow plays well according to many factors, looks are not often one of them. Pressing is key, when the owner of a massive Asian brand tells me he will never be able to get his bats to play like the shop version of Newbery's that are stocked in one of his UK shops then you will know that despite what they may say publicly the truth is they know they are playing catch up. The reason for this? Pressing.

No Newbery/Salix/Warsop/GM player uses any other bat other than that brand as their bats are as good as they can be. The same cannot be said of GN, Slazenger, Puma, Kookaburra etc as their bats are not always good enough for the pro's. The Indian/Pakistani companies buy the majority of English willow so will have the upper hand on getting a quantity of quality clefts, but their pressing is not as good. I can say that with Afridi's match bat sat next to me, and it is as good as any Newbery etc I've ever had, but the standard is not as good as Newbery's standard.

Yash, what you think of the finish on Salix's Kashmir bat? I thought it was finished by Andrew as it was as good as any he has, but he says it was finished in India.

Most likely true as only international players can have a bench made bat at GM.

Talisman Your so against Pak/Ind brands if your just on about pressing of the bats then I have had a £10 CA bats which have had amazing ping and lot better then more expensive GM & newberys.  And you can buy £40/50 Asian bat English Willow which wont have the best pick up or balance but will ping as good as top English bats. The pressing on Asian bats in my opinion is better but unlike you saying Asian bats have poor pressing am not against English Bat I've seen Rana use newbery bats and hes totally smashed sixes.

I'm SOOOOOO NOT against them, why the hell would I be flying out to Pakistan in 2 weeks paid for by a Pakistani brand if I was against them?

Don't even think or waggling a racist or anti Asian finger in my direction as you will be making a prat of yourself.

The pressing of Asian brands if not as good, why? because they don't know how to press the toe hard without pressing the face hard and the same if they try to press the face softly. When you have these guys ringing you 4/5 times a day then I'll listen to you,

Mike, I did not seen the KW bats from Salix. Maybe Andrew has given a good class to his supplier as to how to finish the bats.

The GM bats that Kamran Akmal and Bopara use are not made by GM...... if I am not mistaken Nasir Hussain used Warsop bats with GN stickers.... Anyway not a thing to be debated.
