Flower gone, I blame Bopara

KP as player coach (maybe captain as well then?) in all formats of the game then?  ;)

Tom Moody please - with Paul Collingwood as batting/fielding coach (being groomed for the main job)

Collingwood would then suffer the same brickbats being thrown at Giles. If I were him, I'd win some stuff with Durham first, then think of the England job in four years.

I would like Graham Ford, but he'd rather slum it with the dregs of county cricket.

Sorry but while looking through some bets for the cricket after I got interested by the other thread I found a few of the odds quite funny :

Next permanent England head coach :

Darren Lehman (100/1)
Sir Ian Botham (100/1)
Shane Warne (66/1)
Andrew Flintoff (250/1)

And a few of the more interesting ones :

Ashley Giles (11/8) (For comparison)
Mick Newell (3/1)
Tom Moody (8/1)
Garry Kirsten (8/1)
Micky Arthur (12/1)
Graham Ford (14/1)
Jason Gillespie (16/1)
Paul Collingwood (16/1)
Graham Gooch (40/1)

Few weird ones in there  ???.

One who would do a great job is Dizzy Gillespie.

Hope they don't realise that though, he's far more important doing what he is doing!

Moody for me, but I like the Newell idea, Fleming as an outsider and my left field suggestion - Fraser!

the only problem for me with Newell - who has done a decent job as a county coach - is that he would experience exactly the same issues as Moores did, in that it will be just as hard for a guy who did not play internationally to get his points accross to superstars now as it was then.

Yup, fair point, that's possibly why Moody could work.

Fleming would be good, but I think he's got a lot of fingers in a lot of pies,  my left field Warnie!

I just reckon England need to get back the passion and enjoyment, it would have been a tough tour Down Under.

Is it difficult to coach England if you are not a Pom?  Plenty of Aussies have failed and Arthur's wasn't a success for us!

England/ECB got little hope of getting either Gary Kirsten or Stephen Fleming.

Kirsten resigned as Proteas coach due to his young family. Kirsten has also been named Delhi's IPL coach for 2014-16.

Fleming, as mentioned above, earns more in 10 weeks in Madras, then he would coaching anyone else. Fleming's twice rejected the coaching job with the Kiwis.

Dean Jones would make a great coach. Doubt he'd ever coach England though.

They need a strong minded person like Jones though
