We played in the final in 2011 at Lords against a very strong Woodhouses team. We got battered in a rain affected 10 over match. The competition is loads of fun. We got to play against some good cricketers in lovely settings and always had a beer with them afterwards. Anything can happen in this tournament, we weren't the strongest by any means but we always managed to come off in the 50/50 moments. We got found out in the final but in such a short match anything can happen.
If you are thinking about doing it then I'd recommend it. I did find it a challenge to try and organise two teams on a weekend but it is good fun if you get out of your region.
I had a genuine mix of 1st teamers and 2nds teamers that I kept throughout the competition as they didn't let me down in the early rounds. Had a few people that suddenly became available in the later stages but I didn't want to change it up.
If you could have seen our team I'm sure it would give others hope, it certainly did for our opposition
