Yeah go for ayrtek, if you can get one of last years premiers the have the inflatable liner so you don't get any jiggle (or an elite or raw) that help visibility

Ayrtek.

I have used masuri titanium, an old albion(no idea on model) a gm, and now have two ayrteks.

Visibility is the best in the ayrtek in my opinion.

Cheers guys with babies on way budget is too tight so I have to get it right first time. Can't experiment with kit anymore. I was gonna continue using my old surridge helmet but these guy at nets keeps borrowing it so I am going to keep the old one for borrowers. Don't mind others using pads etc. but not helmet.
Asked Mr Ayrtek for the last carbo. Let's hope I am not too late.
Mrs is staying home these days so will have to get it delivered at work ;-)

club mark 2 lids with an ayrtek to grille works really well.

visibility was the main reason i never used to bat in a lid.

it wasnt the grill issues it was the the peak of the helmet and letting light it i struggled to see etc...

saw these ayrteks on here thought id try one out been happy ever since :)

the angle of the peak is much better for me :)

when i decided to wear a helmet. i struggled and blamed the grill. one of our juniors said. "make your tea in it"
i was like wtf. but he said doing random tasks around the house will get you used to it, and the grill will soon become invisible.
it worked. my next net session it was like i wasn't even wearing a lid.

What a great tip!  I don't wear a lid, never thought I'd need to at my age, mainly play over 40's or 5ths, but this year playing some 3rds I was thinking I need one given the pace of some of these bowlers.

Can someone explain differences in grills?

I've found Ayrtek to be better than masuri for visibility, but that wasn't the train I changed.

My thoughts are simple what is good for one might not be good for another.

If your local to any shop try them on I say as helmets are a very personal thing and we all like difference only difference with helmets is if your struggling to get adjusted you simply will not wear one.

I have had no issue with any brand but I have been wearing them since I was around 15 so 20 years ago I even have a old polycarbonate grill somewhere.

If you can't try any on got with the one you like the best

Remember like bats it may take a little time to get used to something different than what you normally use so stick with it

Got to agree with pro cricket here. I ordered an Ayrtek from Tom with the ACIS liner in it. Visibility looked great when i pushed it down with my hand but couldn't get the fit no matter how hard I tried. No helmet is horrific for visibility so go and try and few on where possible and once you start using it, it will become second nature.

Agree about trying them on chaps. My local shops just stock the usual masuri, slazenger, gm stuff which TBH is not very far off from what I have already got.

Also agree about getting used to bit, I religiously wear a lid when in nets, matches can be different depending on opposition and my form on the day. Absolutely cannot risk nets without lid.

Ordered the last Carbo, hopefully it will fit me alright. Worst case they seem to hold their value well so shouldn't lose more than 50%. I will have to make sure to score loads of runs as I remember the name calling when I first brought Aero Legguards to my league ;-) Spaceman, Lightyear and what not.
