Lekka 2014
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:36:31 AM »

Hi all,
I am very excited to be recieving my first ever Lekka bat in a matter of days.
What excites me more is that I am very interested in the Envy profile, as it only has 5% concaving which is extremely minimal. Since visiting this forum I have always wanted a non-concaved bat so I am very excited to see how this compares to my Bradbury that I am currently using.
here are some pictures of the model that I have decided to go with, it has smaller edges that the Big Hitter but I am fine with this because it has minimal concaving. (Big Hitter Below).
(Envy)
(Envy)
(Big Hitter)
Apparently more people purchase the Big Hitter because of the edge size, but James assures me that the "Envy" is just as good, and would suit a traditionalist like me a lot more.
I was wondering what you all think about the bat profile's and have and experiences with Lekka?. James told me that his bats are double pressed meaning they will take a while to open up, but will be an experience from my Bradbury as it is so soft!.

In other news, I have recieved from James the pictures of the Wicket Keeping Kit that I have posted months ago.

Would love to hear you're opinions!

i wouldnt worry mate. not missing out on much. Absolutely vile would be the easiest way to describe them. also looks like it has the chase logo in there with the red shapes

the bat also looks to have a fair bit of concaving. how is this magical figure of 5% worked out?

I can see them fine and dandy. Not my cup of tea lol. But I'm old fashioned and like minimalistic, traditional cricket gear.

the gloves arent the same as the previous pictures. the graffiti doesnt match up with the palm .... back is red/dark colours the palm is blue/light green?

a red/black palm would match up better

When does the ruling of advertising another brand/new brand come into effect? Or do we pass these recent string of pro Lekka posts nothing other than a happy customer talking about products they are happy with? When all we see picture wise is stock photos from Lekka themselves?

I'm on my phone now and I can see them.

I thought G&M had the exclusive rights to use d3O in cricket equipment?

I dont see this as advertising as I am asking your opinion and showing you the products available, no different to any other brand on here.
GM dont own the exclusive right's, this has been discussed before in a recent thread.

Rowan, gotta change the color scheme on the gloves mate. Either make the palm match the rest of the glove (Red, Blue, Yellow etc..) or revert back to original.

As for bats, I have had one from Lekka and it was very good. Don't know about the double pressing, 5% concaving etc but it played well, although it was the TPX/Big hitter model

the bats look like standard pakistan made bats, the softs images look just like that, re Photoshoped images.

you need to get the colours to match as others have said.

d-30 isn't necessary for keeping pads, you are better off having cheaper materials, or finding a better product.

my strong suggestion is that you do some more research rather than blindly trusting James - or anyone else for that matter

but ask yourself, why do GM not do d30 keeping kit? how many players see a benefit from d30?

other products are lighter, cheaper and better protection.

personally I like the brashness of the kit, but it needs to be at a price point your target market can pay.

If you do get stung and lose cash like many people have on here through James, don't write a bad review or post anything in the disputes section as people have told you what he is like - also that's not meaning to be offensive as everyone has their own opinion

Fair enough, I mustn't have seen that thread...

In regards to advertising, I personally don't have a problem with it, mainly because I'd never ever buy from Lekka, you can get better for cheaper, and better customer service elsewhere etc etc etc. If he has any personal or professional connection with Lekka (and it probably has been discussed in a thread that I haven't seen) the thread should be locked/deleted or their should be a sponsorship fee paid.

From looking at the gear I doubt they'll gain many sales from this thread anyway...

Honest opinion the gloves are like marmite, but I can't see anyone paying £150 for a pair (unless you've changed your mind on the price point?)
The pads seem to be advertising Chase so you may want to reconsider the logo, and what benefit is there of a D3o pad?? Isn't i only used in gloves normally?? I can't see them taking off either.

And as for the bat, if that's 5% concaving I'd like to see what James considers heavy.

Not my cup of tea but as long as you're happy with it I suppose...

Ifyou have ordered a bat, the when it comes show it off. I don't see why peopel(and this isn't just you Rowan) need to make a thread before it's even arrived?

The fact you've shown a bat you didn't ordeder also baffles me?

Sorry but it looks like advertisement.
