drilling would be more of a risk if you had a batch of bats i guess.
i havent heard many stories of single purchase bats being drilled.

The Sapphire from online stockist is £105. How you can charge over double for the same bat is a joke! I feel sorry for people who end up paying double for Indian bats because they are being ripped off!

Great value, what a joke!

Whilst you have highlighted an obvious price gap, you have failed to acknowledge the levels of service given by the forum retailers. I've had first hand experience of buying from Paul and all of his bats are first class.

I could not recommend him enough.

Buying from a TRUSTED retailer is highly desirable and the existence of a number of them here is proof that even the biggest pedants (many here) trust the judgement and guarantees offered by a retailer.

I would buy a bat recommended by Paul every day.

Got to agree with FastEddie here, the quality of service that the forum sponsors give is certainly worth the extra money - having a bat hand picked for you ensures it'll be a good bat, having a random stock bat sent from India is totally pot luck, the weight could be no where near what you've asked for and the chances of you getting a replacement would be very minimal

If you're paying more for the same bat there is generally a reason for it to be fair

I don't think anyone will despute that, but there is a streak in most people that finds it hard to turn down a bargain, like those that occasionally appear on SD at less than cost price!

But here is the question - if you find a retailer you trust based in India, would you still be willing to pay double the price? Just asking....

Massive SF Cricket Bats New in Stock!

I can't see or open the link. Is it just me? Or may be I'm behind a firewall.

I was recommended the SF Optimus, SF LE or SF Triumph by a retailer (not telling who to avoid any controversies), especially the SF Optimus in his opinion is are excellent.

Possibly.

In the first instance a piece of kit would need to be very cheap for me to take that kind of punt.

Trust is everything.

If I were in the market for a SF bat I would definitely take the chance. The difference in price between £105 and
£200 is substantial imo.

And I completely agree with Paul that their pricing is dependent on the price at which they are getting the goods. Needless to say, I do not agree with the person who posted that Paul is ripping off people by charging more than onlinestockist.

Your price does not include shipping and VAT. Paul's includes 20% VAT.

Once you've done the numbers, using UK based retailers stacks-up.
Also, if there is a problem, and as a natural product that can easily occur, you have UK trading law to support you.

Guys - we are all aware that online stockists sell for a cheaper price than UK retailers!
But with a decent UK retailer you know you will get a quality bat.

There have been a number of people who have had issues with OS, and a number who are very pleased!
So it seems to me that people are free to make their choice of whether they take a chance or not!

Nice bats Paul!  :)

Don't forget import duties too, Matt...  ;)

Has anyone here who's bought a bat from OS ever had to pay VAT and import duty? I don't know anyone who has?

Despite everything, if I paid £230 for an SF and found out after I could get it for £124 posted to the UK I would be really, really pissed off.

The guy from OS will get you a bat in the weight range of 1-2lbs you ask for and you can even specify grains, plus extra grips. He's always ready for a chat if you email him, he sometimes sends pictures which is handy.

In terms of after sales I agree it's tricky because if you bought a bat from OS and it broke then it's going to be costly and tricky to ship the bat back to India. But come on, the price gap is massive.

I think there is a typo in there... I would hope he could get closer than 1-2lbs...

It would be funny though to order a 2.9lb and get a 5lb monster

I want a 5lb sf please. Lol.

The issues raised by imperivm have me stuck in the middle of this.

On one hand, I think this dude, knows nothing off overheads, import cost, profit margins etc etc,

But then.

I also think, with os selling at the price he does(which seems below cost) then it makes little sense for people like ijc to try and sell the stuff. The plus sides of buying from paul are worth it, but people are so tight they'll take the risk unfortunately.
