Hi, not posted for a while but thought I would seek the opinion of the Forum. My son will be moving to Cirencester in September and is looking for a club to play for. He currently plays (batsman) for the for a club with teams in Div 1 and 3 so is looking for a club that plays a good standard of cricket where he will hopefully play for the 1st team in the summer and can train with over the winter. Any suggestions? Cheers

Lechlade are a pretty good side. They had a bit of an issue with the league but they are a good club and im pretty sure they have a top division side.

Lechlade are now in Glos Div 7 (10th tier) as they lost their entire 1st team at the end of 2018 season and their second team became their first team so they are really struggling, cirencester 1s play in wepl glos (3rd tier) and stroud (about 15 mins from cirencester) play in Wepl prem 2 (2nd tier) - chippenham (again 15 mins from cirencester) are quite close to you and they have just been promoted to wepl prem 1 (top tier)
i play for stroud in their lower teams, so i can pass the first team captains number onto you if you would like? pm me if you do

Thanks both for your replies. Looks like Lechlade might be a non starter.

How does the Premier League work in the WEPL, where he is coming from there is one Prem (East of England) and then you have the Div 1, 2 etc; How does WEPL tier 3 say compare to Two counties Div 1 (Essex and Suffolk)?

as you mentionned the issue with the league caused it and the guys who put the money into the club also left, the first team disbanded and the club is only kept going to keep the youth players with a pathway to mens cricket (as they still have a great youth set up) - huge shame as such a lovely place to play

Tier 1 = wepl prem 1 = top div
Tier 2 = wepl prem 2 is split into 2 leagues that are equal = wepl prem 2 glos/wilts and wepl prem 2 bristol and NE Somerset (done on location to lower traveling)
Tier 3 = below these two are 4 county based wepl division that are all equal = Wepl gloucestershire - wepl wiltshire - wepl bristol - wepl NE somerset
then it goes into the county leagues under this

hope this helps a bit - the wepl wesbite is below as it might be easier for your comparison, the splits probably mean the quality starts to dilute more than the system he has with straight prem -1 -2 etc, but the distances are quiet big in the Wepl

4 teams
1s WEPL
2s-Wilts Div1, 3s-Wilts Div3, 4s-Wilts Div7
Winter training from Jan and then outdoor from April/May

We just had a lad join from Swindon, said the team selection across all sides isnt great. Plus its in Swindon, not the nicest place to play cricket

jjelricksmith I get what you saying about Swindon, its also 20 or so miles from Cirencester so I think he would prefer somewhere a bit closer if possible.

Looking at the leagues Cirencester would be closest but maybe the 1s in WEPL would be too higher standard and the 2s in Div 6 too low.

Saw another club in Div 1 (Poulton) which isn't too far - do you know anything about them?

poulton is a nice club (div 1 is the league below Wepl glos that cirencester are in), but their 2nds are in div 7 - which is only 2/3 league off the bottom of the pryamid, from what you say i think cirencester might be best, ciren 1's are a decent side in tier 3 - wepl glos and there 2nds are in div 5 there is not a huge difference in quality between the weak sides in div 3 down to div 6 (as the GCB messed up the pryamid when they intergrated the 2nd/3rd/4th teams into the Glos County League

cirencester is also a nice place to play and the club is very friendly and forward moving

Hi all. Due to a variety of things happening this Summer I�ll be in London till the middle of July and was just wondering if anyone had any experience of playing for/against clubs in North West London? Potentially looking for a club with multiple teams across different levels as I�ve only ever played in one league system so I could find my standard. Cheers.

I didn�t play last year and played 4 games in 2019 before plantar fasciitis curtailed it.
I fell like I�ve fallen out of love with the game tbh.
Any ideas on how to get it back?
