I'm a Gray Nichols whore and I prefer split fingers with no garish colours. That puts me with the Legends. I currently have the pads and I'm saving my pennies for the gloves.

Being an old fogey :) I prefer the more traditional pads and sausage-finger gloves. I recently (i.e. last week), plumped for a matching set of pads and gloves from Dean at Vulcan (2013 models). Netted in them the once and have to say, they're comfortable, reasonably light and IMO look nice.

Last couple of seasons were H4L sausage gloves and Willoxstix pads; again light and comfortable, but the Vulcan gear looks stunning (to me!)

My Salix softs are lovely, pricey but very comfortable and feel they are made from very high quality materials.

Hard to evaluate what best really means. What sort of budget do you have?

Bradbury Players pads and gloves are probably my favourite looking!

After buying GN Legend pads and E41 gloves I'd say this combo, or the X181 gloves, however after subsequently seeing the new B&S softs, I don't think they can be beaten for quality vs price. Speak to Vitas on here, I know they rate them highly.

regarding pads I use the Uzi Green Mamba originals and can't fault them. When I bought them they only did the matching gloves in sausage style which I don't really favour. I'll be interested to see what their new softs are like.

Simple mate for me 2 options and I have a lot of softs.

Salix softs from any price point including the HH gear is superb

If not GN oblivion test same quality and looks as legends but softer and GN X181 gloves are simply amazing the softest gloves I have ever worn.

Actually the B&S gear is really good as well.

Slightly off a tangent

Please can i have a look behind the knee cup of the Salix and HH softs please.

I too have had lots of softs more than most and there a set i have not looked behind but found some interesting things ref Pads and vulnerable areas and lack of protection there.

Some of the most expensive pads do not have the best protection.

I'd always say the Puma stuff. Top protection, lightweight and extremely comfy. The 2014 range is less gordy too so that's good.

For me SS TON or SG  softs are the best in the market especially when you compare their softs with others on the same price basis

The puma stuff, GM stuff and I thought the B3 stuff I tried was good. I have two pairs of GM split finger modern gloves. Love them.

For me I have gone with the affinity pads and gloves people say they very similar to the mandh but their is more protection on the affinity pads as they have a built-in shin pad witch is very nice indeed .but if on a budget the sf sapphire pads and gloves cost under 40 pounds my friend had a set off sg test pads and gloves and they see very good as well :)

If I wasn't strapped for cash I quite like the look of the Vanquish softs, big fan of the blue and white colouring they have. Couldn't give you a clue as to quality though. All in all a fairly pointless post. Apologies.
