Disappointing start to the season for me, we won but on a personal level I wasn't great. 4 overs 0 for 25 wasn't good at all, one catch and a run out helped but then I only made 14 with the bat but never felt comfortable. Whats most annoying is that I used to be a fairly decent player when I was younger, played prem 2nd XI a lot and league U18's but then had 10 years off and never been the same. My batting is better due to the lower standard but my bowling has been awful since I started playing again.

Lack of practice doesn't help (we don't practice during the week in the season) but I'd convinced myself losing some weight and getting a bit fitter would be a magical cure. Sadly not, the run up at our ground is slightly downhill and uneven and I just couldn't get any rhythm - bowled two bad balls per over and had no balance at point of delivery.

Really unhappy and frustrated but I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks soon so hoping to come back better. Lots to work on when I do, need to get fitter, possibly cut down my run up to just a few paces to get line/length and work on foot movement leading with the head/shoulder when batting as I seem to plant my foot rather than move to the pitch of the ball.

Midweek cricket!!!

We only play 12 overs. So despite my lack of fitness i gave it a go.

opened batting and made 51.

It is scary how unfit i am. I fielded at slip for 8 oversm then went and sat down as cant hack it.

we won though 113 for 4  vs 79all out. #greenamry

Boo no cricket!

Yay 13 points!

Game called off, and then solid sunshine for the next hour and a half. Would probably have gone ahead but for ten minutes of hellishly heavy rain about 10am. What makes it slightly better is that I was on tea duty, so now my mum has bought everything for tea, made all the cakes, only for us to get to keep it all... what makes it worse is that it means I have to do more revision for a take-away paper starting on Monday :(

I can now see why my game was cancelled. As soon as the parents left to take the dog out for a walk, armageddon struck! I suspect that I will have annoyed dog, parents and hens to put up with now!

Went all the way to Leeds to pick up a loan player only for our 1st XI match to be cancelled at 12noon which meant we didn't need the loan player after all (last night 1st's took our opening bat so he was now available again). Loan player OK with this.  Anyhow get back only to find the wicket saturated as covers had not been put on properly so the wicket was not usable. Looking for alternatives, the wicket used by the under18's might have been playable by 3pm if there was no more rain but around 2.15pm then heavens absolutely opened !!!

That's no cricket for first 3 weeks of the season for our 2nds.

First league of the season for me after missing last week. Game was reduced to 30 overs each to try and get it done before the rain came again. Had my first umpiring shocker of the season. Bowled a quicker inswinger which the batsman misjudges and it smacks him full on the front foot. I go up for it and get absolutely no support from my team who all believe it would be going past leg and yet the umpire gives it not out on the grounds that it hit him outside the line of off-stump.. Would love to be good enough to play at a standard with neutral umpires!

And we ended up losing by only a couple of runs which makes it even more painful!
