Opened got 11, took me about 23 overs to get those runs, but allowed others to get runs so yeah.
Fielded and took a catch, surprisingly as at training the other night I dropped everything.  :-[
Game ended up being Abandoned (Believe this is the right term) due to an injury to a team member requiring an ambulance, and was unable to move him off the pitch to continue the game. By the time this was resolved, light was fastly fading.

Christ, what did he managed to do to himself? Hope it's not too bad!

I wasn't paying too much attention at the time, but I believe he dived to stop the ball, but ended up getting his knee caught in the ground (should have seen the size of the "crater" afterwards) and was in agony from there onwards. Was either ligament damage or a dislocated knee, so could potentially be season over.  :(

After some light rain in Kent this morning got a full game in today. We batted first and made 190-9 from our 46 overs. I made 41 before playing a very ugly heave across the line which is very unlike me don't quite know where it came from and got bowled.

In reply they managed 91 all out with 2 catches behind the stumps from myself.

So 6 games in and we have won 3 lost 3 with it going LWLWLW so we are consistent lol.

Had a terrible game yesterday. Availability was terrible so the 5th XI i skipper was essentially full of our friendly 6th XI. Two over 70 and one bowler under 50.....

We we put in and i had to pen due to the lack of batsman and got bowled for 1 playing across the line. I thought it was shorter than it was and it kept a little low (and came back in) and i was in no mans land really, didn't move my feet hardly and played it onto my stumps. We ended up 115-8 off of our 46 overs and they got them for 1 in 16 overs. Probably the worst league game I've been involved in where i've lost. We had a poor side although they really tried the best they could i kind of expected a result like this all week. Availability is meant to improve drastically next week which is nice as we are playing local rivals (and my ex-club)

Good win for us yesterday to put us top of the league. Playing on our new home wicket which is a minefield, we bowled them out for 114 with one of our chaps; 4 for 9 off 10.2.
I opened and got 4 runs in 53 mins... Situation required some patience due to the wickets variable bounce but really I struggled to score. Hopefully things go a little more smoothly for me in today's friendly...

Bowled them out for 129. Knocked it off for only one wicket down, 2 points off the top. On a personal note, I've avoided the TFC award by virtue of having a catch. Frustrating season on a personal note.

Yesterday's game went ahead after quite a bit of work on the outfield to get rid of standing water,,the wicket wasn't too bad under the covers, apart from where water had run straight down the middle!
Soon dried out tho
Managed a good win against decent oppo,,,scored a fifty before playing back and trying to cut? A straight pee roller! Muppet

Another good win today, bowled oppos out for 73, we knocked em off for one wicket,,,managed another fifty, not out this time,,,lfinished for 5.30pm!
Top of the league and unbeaten so far

I'm more of a reader than a poster but I had a game that will remember for a while today so wanted to post it.

I only play Sunday friendly stuff, just for the love of it, with no pretensions to being any good at the game (my club's home ground has cropped up a couple of times in "worst ground ever" type threads), and my 14 year old son plays a few games with us, but doesn't always necessarily enjoy it.

Today then the oppo batted first and had a couple of decent players first up, but we kept a lid on the run rate until the 16th over when one of the openers tried to go over the top and skied one to mid-off, where my lad was fielding. My immediate thought was that is was well over him, but he made great ground backwards and got his hands up, only to drop it.

No one would have expected him to hold it, but he's a sensitive lad and I was worried about him being gutted about it.

As luck (or otherwise), the very next ball, the batsman stuck another one in the air right at him - cricketer's worst nightmare in my view! - and he caught it as nonchalantly as you could ever imagine.

I'm mega proud at this, and he comes on to bowl, a bit of a mixed bag to begin with, but after a filthy half tracker gets hit for 4 in his third over, he responds with a jaffa to bowl the batsman. That was the end of the over, but first ball the next over, the batter chips it up in the air to be caught. They cross and the lad on strike has tried thus far to hit everything to the moon, and my boy sorts him right out with an inswinging yorker for a hattrick in adult cricket.

That was my day made for me, but to add the cherry on the cake on a personal note I opened the batting using my GM Six6 808 that I bought from Mr Jake Vitas, which had various players drooling over how big it looks, and maybe more importantly the sound it makes, on the way to 54* to win on a ground I had never enjoyed any success on before.

really top game of cricket today, epitomised everything sunday cricket should be about. Oppo batted first. We kept them well down in the first 20 - only allowing them to 60 for the loss of 2 or 3, then their number 3 kicked on, hitting a few huge sixes- he made about 50,  as he carried his team to 207 due to some really sloppy bowling and fielding. I kept and kept okay, only letting 4 byes trough and standing up most of the game, i dropped a diving catch in the last over, but oh well cant all go your way. the oppo pretty much all batted i think we had them 8 down. In reply, I opened the innings and with my partner made a 45 partnership before he was bowled off his pads. Best part of the day, was me and the number 3, the youngest in the teams me 16 and him 15, putting on 89 together, and me getting to 50, before he got bowled to a ball that jagged back massively, for 34. at this stage we were roughly 140 for 2 with 15 to go. Our number 4 was in and out, and then me and the number 5 had a quick 25 partnership before i fell to a decent catch for 68, at this stage we needed about 60 to win of the final 10, happy days we thought...apparently not, cue the usual village cricket collapse as we slumped to about 179 for 7. then our number 9 and our number 5 nearly saw us home as we finished 198 for 9. Then off to the pub to enjoy a couple of jugs for 2 half centuries. all in all a great days play and had massive fun in the scorching weather. A top day all round

Highly frustrating game today, ruined by leauge umpires. Bowled the team out for 116 took 4-14 which makes a change! Openned the batting and put on 60 with my partner until I got bowled by a slower ball for 29. Rain came along in the 15th over where we were 71-1. Covers weren't rushed on by the home team as obviously we were in a poor position. After the covers were removed the bowlers landing for the front leg was very muddy which could have been scraped out as the ground underneath was hard but the umpires refused to make the home team get the pitch ready for play again so as 7pm came along and the cut off point was passed it was match abandoned all down to the umpires not using their powers to keep the game going. Highly annoying as if it was 4.4 overs further into the match we would have won!

Didn't play today, went to watch our 1st XI in the T20 cup competition instead.

Not that I missed playing or anything, but my bags are packed for next Saturdays game already...  :-[

Good friendly today. We batted first, I opened and managed to score my maiden century!!! 106 runs in 1hr 50 mins - 16x4s and 2x6s. So chuffed. We ended on 238 from our 40 overs.
They ended up getting 208 in their 40 overs. Good winning draw!

Two frustrating games this weekend. League match Saturday, we got 245-6 in our 52 overs, didn't get a bat, and then the opposition blocked their way to 104-6 from 48. Opened the bowling, overall figures were 15-3-32-2, but because the pitch was something of a road I actually made my spinning fingers bleed from trying to get revs for flight and drift.
Captained my club's academy team yesterday in a return fixture at our local rivals. I will start a different topic because I have some concerns about it and would like to get other peoples views. Basically, we bowled the opposition out for 81 in 21.5 overs. I kept for 20 of them, took a diving catch off my opening bowler, and stood up for most of the time. Missed one chance off a seamer standing up, but it just hit me so no runs lost, one would probably have been taken if I had stood back a few overs later, and one came to me on the half volley. On the plus side, I  only let 3 byes in 20 overs so well chuffed. I brought myself on to bowl my seamers after drinks, and then took the last 2 wickets for one run in five balls. Chasing, we collapsed horrendously against two very good spinners, one a Bucks under 17, and the other I suspect their first team spinner, and we lost by 17 runs with 22 balls remaining of our 40 overs, with one of my u13s batting about 20 overs and really impressing.
As I said, I will start a new topic to air some concerns about sportsmanship and team selection issues to avoid spamming this thread.
