5.40 is my favourite bit, when one of our guys goes too fast and overshoots the bank off the sheeting..

Hot and sticky, rain (covers on), stopped raining, moped up, sawdust down, rain, covers on, covers off, 36 overs a side - won the toss and batted, at 151 for 3 off 33 it was pitch black with the fielders unable to see the ball so taken off, heavens opened and cue the thunder........long day for 6 points + 2 bonus batting points (I got as far as padding up).

5.45pm (July!)

is that clumber park ? superb sky, we had similar in Sheffield.  it was very close to a tornado formation by the look of it. east midlands had a level 2 European warning for possible tornadoes

Played again tonight for the U16's. We won the toss and batted first, I batted 5, I don't normally get in. But tonight I was called upon, me and one of the younger boys who bats at four steadied the ship with a 30 partnership, with me only hitting 5 off 4 balls including the biggest four I've hit, one bounce. Then I got a bit excited and top edged one to the man on the boundary. We ended up with 121-4 off 20 overs.

I normally open but I came on first change, my figures were: 4 overs, 2 maidens, 2 wickets for 8 runs. Pretty pleased with tonight.

I did get 3 on Monday so average 1 for my last three knocks  :(

Made myself a new bat as a solution to my problems, but I doubt I'll have it knocked in in time for nets tomorrow, let alone saturday!  I'd say it's about half ready at the moment.

Just because you get low scores doesn't mean you should hate cricket. Look on the bright side. Last season I averaged 3 with a highest score of 1. At least I only got out once! And I improved my overall average from 1.25 to 1.6! This is one reason why I chose my name accordingly.

With a batting average of about 0.5 on the league I'm glad I bowl!

Are you enjoying playing ?? As long as the answer is yes it doesn't matter the results, level etc.

As it happens, this season appears to be a write off for me as well given the lack of pace in this league and wet wickets we keep getting. Sloggers are prospering though so good on them.

Yeah but no is the honest answer.
Doing okay with the ball but we're in a relegation dog fight. Natural rally tensions are high which isn't great.
I've got an eye on the bowling award though being the selfish creature I am  ;)

I bowled about 4 balls last season.

Just when the 2014 season couldn't get any less enjoyable- just received an email BOMBSHELL!!!

The side we are playing on Saturday do not provide any TEAS!! due to lack of preparation facilities. We have been told to bring our own pack lunch.

Could things get any worse!! :o
