It must have got to that time in the season when every batsman is now totting up how many bad LBW calls they've had against them this season, I am about to do the same as I got my 2nd stinker in 3 weeks being 2 yards down the track. However having now viewed the Test Match highlights from Saturday, it wasn't as bad Rod Tucker's decision against Pujara or the one I got 2 weeks prior.

I suppose what really frustrated me was that I had missed out on at least 6 rank half volleys outside offstump which I would normally despatch into orbit and out of the ground but the wicket was so slow that it was a struggle to time anything. I also don't think it helped that I had been down to the bowling machine the previous night (Friday) and been whacking those Bola balls to all parts of the virtual cricket field, albeit on a much faster, bouncier surface. Anyhow I'm pleased to say the afternoon was not a total disaster as I successfully executed my first ever reverse sweep !!

3 bad LBWs, a dodgy run out and a caught behind I hadn't hit.
Without those my average might have even made double figures this year!!

In 9 league games.. 3 lbws that I've hit and twice I've walked when I've nicked it and both times the umpire said he wouldn't have given me out!!. So a) I don't cheat and if I say I've hit it I've hit it.. B) 5 bad calls in 9 innings is a shocking indication of how bad umpiring is, regardless of what people say.

I have to admit the standard of "neutral" umpiring this season has been shocking. I think bad decisions across our team and oppo is pretty level so there is no bitterness on my part. I think i've only had one stinker (my opinion of course) but there has been some really poor umpiring decisions!

This is only my fourth season and I've played wih paid umpires the whole time and this season they are shocking. However this is the lowest league I've ever played in too so I suspect I've had to have the dregs doing it. It's ok though, next year we've got the team promoted and should be starting the climb in to better umpires again.

Thank god. I thought it be easier to score going down divisions.. It's been harder!! Lack of pace, no leg side wides and crap umpiring :(

The problem with umpires in league cricket, I find, is that the majority tend to be from the older generation. And whilst they tend to harp on about their experience, they tend to forget what leaves them with age. The senses of sight and sound.

I'm coming around to the theory of them just wanting to justify being there and get involved.

I really only found fell across my first point when I (very occasional umpire) stood with a relatively high level umpire in a Sunday game,  for him to comment that he couldn't see our rather large tv screen in the club from about 10ft

Had an experience this week where going into the last over we need 6 to win with 2 wickets left. I hit the first ball for 4 then next ball triggered LBW by their umpire despite only 1 appeal from the keeper as everyone else heard the wooden noise. Luckily didn't cost us the game as the next ball went through the keeper for byes but still not happy

Football season starts far too early, pros should start in sept and amateur october! We had 38 players missing last week and not much better this week.

Interesting midweek games this week on Wednesday and Thursday night. Played on same pitch, indeed same wicket both evenings and lost by 2 runs last night but managed to win with 2 balls to spare tonight. Both matches were incredibly similar as team batting first last night successfully defended 51 while tonight another failed with 55. Definitely a bowler friendly wicket.
