Promoted today and broken the 40 wicket barrier for the league season - strange game! Bowled them out for 109 on a green strip, then collapsed to 22 for 5. Put a few on for the 8th wicket to leave 20 to get until another collapse putting us on 91 for 9, smacked a 4 to tie the scores only for our number 11 to decide to attempt a single next ball which I pushed firmly to mid wicket and run himself out! Enough points to go up with a game to spare but very hollow feeling not to win the match.

Got three Saturday's off until all starts again for me. With a side strain for the past 3 weeks, hoping that it'll all clear up by then and be fit enough ready to bowl.

Lost today they got 256-9 we got 246 all out lost by 8 runs but we only had 10 players. Our two openers got 104 and 43 respectively and one of bowlers got four wickets in one over including  a hattrick.

Played my first proper Sat league game yesterday.  Was last game of season, promotion secured already.

Against top, winner takes league title.

As a lad that used to open for the team, I batted 10, that's how strong our line up was.

We got bowled out for 98 (me 5 red). They won by 8 wickets.

Season over now,  unfortunately we lost our last game which was a cup final yesterday.  We did better than expected really as we beat two sides above us in the league to get to the final.  In the final we played Hallam 3rd team who have just won the division above us so we were expected to have no chance.

Bowled well to restrict them to 170 all out off 45, aside from me as I gave away 31 off my 4.1 overs.  Really disappointing even if it was the last few overs as I just didn't bowl anything decent. Hadn't Bowled for about 5 weeks but still rubbish,  add to that a dropped catch and a generally poor fielding and I was seriously considering retirement at tea.

We were our usual over aggressive selves when batting and ended up about 90 all out.  I batted OK and got 33 which has just about convinced me to keep playing.

Overall not too bad a season,  349 runs at just under 22 but very poor with the ball again.  After playing at Hallam on a far better track than our ground and feeling comfortable batting against higher division bowlers I'm now tempted to swap club's.  Whilst I like playing for my current side I'm tempted to move to Hallam as I think playing on a better track will help my batting and netting each week instead of playing a midweek game may finally help me bowl properly again. I'm not expecting to play at anything above their 3rd team but I think I'm capable of playing for them.

Big decision so if anyone on here plays for Hallam in Sheffield or knows what they're like please let me know.

Penultimate game today and as usual after a lovely week of hot sun by lunch time during the week today was damp, humid and no sun and by 12:30 last nights rain was still on the outfield as a thin layer. Playing local side. Hartley country club who had 2 first team county prem players (one is about to be coach at Hong Kong CC) and. 3-4 county prem div 2 players we elected to play 2xT20 games.

They batted first and there was some of the best hitting iv seen all year for said mentioned players was in the 8th over a ball finally beat the bat and came to me keeping. Was honestly great to watch but bowlers didn't think so. Any way long story short we got hammered in both but everybody got a decent game and I managed a few more runs. Used my new GN vortex and the thing just rockets balls to the boundary so pleased there.

Had the Bucks Challenge Cup final last weekend, came back from uni to play. Batted on a seemingly flat wicket, but because of the rain the night before it was anything but! I went in at 8, 115 on the board with 9 overs left of our 45. Injured my back/shoulder getting my head out the way of a bouncer, got caught for 7 shortly after. We lost inside 22 overs, I got 0-26 off 5, whilst our opening bowler went for 58 from 5.5, as we lost by 10 wickets. Bit of a waste of time and petrol heading back really, as I could have been helping out at my uni sports teams fresher taster session.
Weekend before I played a couple of friendlies, first one got 1 wicket and 23, including two sixes over the pavilion. On the Sunday I opened up, got 90 before being caught going inside out against a leg spinner. Kept when we fielded (it was against the team that I had concerns against a while back), and we won by 38 defending 278. Only let 1 bye in 37 overs so I was pretty pleased, and everyone got a decent game so I was a happy captain with a happy team :)

Had my first game of the season yesterday (missed round one). I don't normally bowl but I came on just before tea to try something different and maybe pick up a wicket. Managed to grab a wicket and because it was part way through the over and tea I finished the over after and continued on. Ended up bowling 15 straight, 3 wickets for 33 runs. Decent return. My back and shoulder are stiff now tho. The oppo ended up on 250ish 9 down off their 80 overs. If we bat well next week we can get them. The ground is small and a good batting deck.

You play the game over two weekends?

Think that is depending on state of league. When I was in perth we played 90 overs each over 2 weekends. More patient batting and bowling and a hell of a lot longer in the field!!

Not sure if I had a great or a total C**p season.
On the plus side.
As the club I helped found two years ago, the first team won Division one of the OCA, the Airey Cup and the OCA's T20  (first side ever to win all three), the First team has also been nominated for the team of the year in the Oxfordshire Sports Awards. On top of that the second team won Division 8 of the OCA.
The Down side
I faced 30 BALLS and Score a miserable 17 runs all season. I bowled 3.2 overs for 15 Runs and 3 wickets.

Yes. Essentially its 160 overs, split between 2 Saturday's. Team batting first can only bat for 80 of those. In theory its a 2 innings per side game. But it very rarely gets to a 4th innings, sometimes 3rd. You can get a win (winning 1st innings) and then also get an outright win (win first and second innings) or reverse outright (lose first innings win 2nd).
