Well to be honest it is essentially a domestic tournament with a few international stars. It was never going to rival the World T20 for quality of cricket, and it's probably about the standard of other domestic T20 tournaments in other countries.

To lift the standard of cricket they need to get rid of the under 24 Indian player requirement and increase the number of foreign players in the 11 to 5 from 4. They also need to add some bowler friendly rules to make this an even contest between bat and bowl.

In fact I am for T20 cricket with a rule where a team can only have 5 or 6 wickets instead of 10 this way they will be forced to choose specialist bowlers instead of bits and pieces players and in turn restore the balance between bat and ball. This would also give incentive to the bowler to be more aggressive and try to get wickets instead of just trying to save runs and batsman will have to put premium on their wickets just as they do in ODI.

What's up with these batsman in IPL?

I noticed this yesterday with Rajasthan Royals collapse and today with KKR that batsman are not even playing to the situation of the match and throwing away wickets.

I miss dear old ODIs and Tests.
