A grade 1 cleft may not make a grade 1 bat, you can't see the blemishes until you have planed the face....

Agreed. You are selling a final product and if the final product is does not match the standards of the initial grading, down grade it.

Customer doesn't care for the row materials but the final product. The only exception here would be when a customer selected a grade 1 cleft himself.

Wow, I would feel pretty gutted if I bought a G1 bat blind and it looked like that, nevermind a G1+ Salix! How does she tap up? I'm glad I didn't go for one in the PDS crazy sale in the end, I would say for a £210 Salix, it's not too bad, but you bought the bat in anticipation of it being a G1+ stunner at a great price, not an okay bat at a decent price...

I would be happy paying G1 money for that, because those stains are actually very hard from my experience and prevent damage, so your outside edge shouldnt crack at least :P
G1 - not in direct playing area. Maybe even LE if from the right company.

How much would you pay for it?

I'm not sure how this bat was graded as a Players which is meant to be amongst the best of their G1's...

I too am guessing this came from the Prodirect sale a couple of days ago. I'm glad I resisted also as I've always thought it's a risk buying bats from Prodirect since I'm based overseas. Good thing that it's a lot easier to return it if you are based in the UK.

Will you be returning it d7bow?

I've paid 100 for better looking bats than that.

Not sure it's worth >200.

Are you sending it back?

Totally agree Chadders. I was a tad disappointed when I opened the package, to see the marks. I bounced a ball on it and it pretty decent for a bat that needs knocking in as tapping a ball was leaving seam marks. The bat weighs 2-8 1/2 so that coupled with below expectations on looks, needs knocking in means I will send it back.

Very odd to see a Players grade Salix looking like that. I've got a Pod Performance that does have some similar blemishes but rather fewer of them. One question - is it a big piece of wood for the weight? Only asking because maybe that was a factor?

When the coast is clear I'll take some pictures and measurements as I'm not sure what a big 2-8 will be.

This is Paul at IJC's review - the bat that I bought is the one on the right, and you can see the very minor blemishes. Out of interest it weighs 2lb 7oz.

I went to bye the Salix players bat from pro direct but I had a email saying I had been refunded which I found to be odd but I shaw that if Salix graded it as a players it will play very well unless their was a error when the bat had the stickers put on as it's does look like a performance model
