I'm married to a deputy head so have hours of having my ear bent (personally I get 4 weeks holiday per year she's on 13  :()

Compared to what? Soldiers? Maybe.... although who teaches the officers and pilots of tomorrow? Doctors? Perhaps, but who puts those kids in a position to do the degree they need?  Who are they overpaid in comparison too? Name me a profession that gets paid less, that does as important a job! Apart from maybe binmen, soldiers, fishermen, farmers, builders. As Ginge said, not many jobs are you expected to work 60 hours a week for £20k, now I won't complain because its a passion, and a calling, but I think we get paid what we're worth!

I retract my statement then, and apologise. Newly qualified (like me) is only 20k, performance related pay rises mean its not guaranteed to increase either!

That is one of the perks of exam season. Class sat in silence, and doing past papers. GCSE maths exams on Monday and Friday next week.
