BOSS Cricket Bats
« on: September 03, 2014, 11:21:38 PM »

Hi All,

Just saw this one pop up on Facebook! Yet another newbie!  :-[

https://www.facebook.com/BossCricketBats?fref=ts

Seams to be the combination of two current boutique brands which is interesting. The most recent post offers people who have always wanted their own brand to get involved and become part of it (like being an agent I suppose), which is an interesting idea I think. Bats look not bad, particularly if they max out at $300. Be interesting to see some more activity from them though...

Anyone else seen it or know anything of it?

"For a relatively small investment you can join the Boss family and benefit from our manufacturing, marketing and general industry expertise and know how. In return you will own your immediate region and be given the support of 2 professionally run cricket companies. Funds generated by investing into Boss cricket will be returned back to the brand (Boss) for R&D, marketing, sponsorships, sampling and trips to manufacturing plants for quality control.

As a partner of Boss Cricket you will access excellent buy rates to successfully run your dedicated region. As a co-operative group of partners, our buying power and combined volume will put the brand in a strong position to serve each partner with unparalleled benefits not possibly obtained by going it alone. Any assistance needed will come from regular partner meetings where we can discuss techniques and strategies to grow your Boss brand in your specific region."

So you're effectively giving them money for R&D of the brand, then you have to buy your stock from them on top??
Not sure what the insentive to buy into this is really...

Bats look almost identical sticker wise to Grove and Steeden offerings this year.

wow, having had chance to look at the facebook stuff now I'm shocked at the audacity.

basically reads "we want to sell low end bats above their value and charge you for the privilege of buying from us. by the way, we nicked the designs from Spartan"

Hi guys, hope all is well, the sun is shining and everyone is having a superb day.

Good to see some nice positive feedback on Boss Cricket  :). Obviously a few people think that something sinister is going on however it couldn't be further from the truth.

The Boss concept has been started with the idea of forming a joint venture project where people who are interested, can get involved with a brand if they wish to choose so.

I wonder, would you share all your "exclusive" contacts with the investor? If you did they would be quite able to just go around you and set up their own brand from the contacts you've provided - and then undersell you as they wouldn't be paying your premium prices?

The concept is flawed, the collaboration idea isn't awful as you will get the advantage of a brand covering a large proportion of the world (and quickly) but for me it's the lower grade idea - presuming you're getting your bats out of India then we both know that the difference in price between a Grade 3 and Grade 1 bat is only about £30 from the majority of the big India manufacturers, thus cutting out a large amount of potential profit. By the time you've added your premiums to these prices any 'investors' will be coming up against other 'budget/lower priced' brands selling G1 bats for the same price as your G3/G4's.

There's a reason all of my bats are made in the UK and this is one of them.

what is the respective difference in UK then

Not too far off the overseas prices to be honest - difference is it's a premium product so higher prices can be justified compared to the brands who get their bats from overseas.

I've edited my previous post and removed anything that could be deemed promoting too.
