I like to have matching kit if possible, but you're always open to the "All the gear, no idea sledge"
I've noticed lots of players in our club buy new bats & as they acquire new kit they buy it to match their bat brand.

I like all my kit to match, but tbh when in batting in the middle i could be wearing anything, I'm just thinking about the ball.

Hi all

Following on from a comment Neon made about people away from the forum not caring about matching kit, I wondered how many of us really care that much?

I never used to be bothered, but once I started buying my own kit I've been a bit of a tart in it must match!
When I had 2 different brands of bat in my bag, I'd use brandless pads and use gloves to match the bat. I now have 2 sets of kit where the brands (of items that will be on show) fully match!

So please answer the poll and comment away people  :)

Mate, I've been through a few phases.

Growing up, I was a massive Matthew Hayden fan so all my kit (including my spikes) were GN in brand.

Then I had to fund my own cricket gear, and it was really about value for money, so all my stuff was miss matched.

Now, I have to have my external softs (pads and gloves) matching, but they don't have to match my bats. Again, still looking for value for money, so my softs aren't one of the big brands. Just as good quality, but without the price tag.

My only matching kit is my white pads and gloves! So I don't really care about matching kit

If you are not comfortable in what you are wearing, might it stop you doing this?

Comfortable yes,the kit has to fit, but matching no. I do have matching kit (kookaburra) and it seems important to me up to the point I'm actually playing. Looking back, once I'm batting it doesn't cross my mind.

No. What I meant was that the colour of them was white, and that was the only thing matching!

Like my softs to match, bat can be different but only if its from an 'small' company

Eg I have GN pads and gloves and an RK stickered bat. If I was to go for an off the shelf bat, say a GM then I would have to get the matching softs!

I like my kit to be all one brand to an extent...
Bat, Gloves and Pads have to match in terms of brand, for me it's Gray Nics...
Doesn't matter what range from Gray Nics just as long as it GN and I like it.
Shoes are just what I see are the best pair for the price and what I need them to do so not Gray Nics as their shoes don't look good and aren't suited to bowling? Currently use Asics and Adidas
Helmet will always be a Masuri, current use the old style elite
Thigh pad will be my p2 stripper.

Matching kit > unmatching kit.

Simple  :D

There are a few allowwances, if the main brand doesn't do (for example shoes) OR there is an outstanding example of a specific item (Thighpads - Remfry/Strippers/Stretton) then a slight deviation is allowed, though really, shirley it's a standard we should all be aiming for?

What if there was someone to turn up on Sunday and question the level of cricket I play at?!

I must say as someone who has played in both the lowest and highest league I can for my club (and in my progression all of the sides in between) you do get less matching kit (and more Slazenger on display!) in the lower leagues.

When you are poo - matching kit is a bit of a no-no really.

Turning out to dirty slog a few at number 8 in the Chertsey 4XI with matching GM gloves, pads and bat just invites ridicule (and that is before they have seen the technique).

Mind you, still like gloves and pads to match in an OCD style!

I intentionally do not want my kit to match. I want the best value for money and that often means shopping around.

And if I saw a batsman with everything matching I would think, either sponsored (S**T field back) or all the gear no idea.

I get that you would like one brand more than another etc but I would go for protection/value over do the eyebrows match the curtains.

In my mind, all matching kit from a small company is brilliant! You are helping promote that company in a positive way, the kit is normally very simple and stylish and won't be drawn attention to.

If however you are not sponsored by one of the "big brands" and come out with it all matching you look a tit! Especially if you are sh!te
