I like playing with someone who enjoys batting and is happy to give me the strike... but being able to rotate the strike and take singles is the most important. Keeping the score ticking keeps everyone happy.

Someone who is a good runner and hits boundaries fairly frequently.  I don't like being the dominant partner, I much prefer ticking over in 1s, 2s and the occasional boundary.  Also I don't mind a strike hog, I just like being out in the middle for a lot of time.

I always bat three, thus am there for early wickets and to tick the strike over if we have a good opening partnership.

Strange, that. I prefer to be the dominant partner, not a clue why, but i don't seem to bat well with another dominant player.

To be honest, I only seem to bat well lately when everyone else is getting themselves out, so haven't really had much of a choice in partner!

I like to bat with a more aggressive partner so I can just work singles and twos. Its nice to have the person at the other end smashing fours and sixes and you can just do whatever you want. I like having a good chat too while batting to keep the nerves down .

I like to bat with someone who is a good runner and has an eye for quick singles. I love batting with one of my team mates as he can hit really big and is also a great runner who is good at stealing singles and converting singles to doubles.

I enjoy batting with someone who bats properly, isn't a blocker but isn't one of these modern guys who just goes at everything because that's what the pros do.. Difference is, they are actually good!!

Just bat peoperly, each ball on its merits. Someone who also scores in different areas to me helps as oppos bowlers need to adjust and that presents runs.

I agree with this 100%

I must add i also prefer someone looking to keep the scoreboard ticking over and always willing to put the pressure back onto the opposition. I love being a part of a left hand, right hand combo and taking regular singles. Always hilarious to watch the fielding captain getting frazzled as more inexperienced players forget their positions.

I'm an opener, so my opening partner is critical to me. They need to be willing to face the first over, be of a similar pace to me (I had to run with a fat guy last year, and he simply can't scamper between them like I can. Quality bat though), call well, not hold down the scoring by being stagnant at the crease, and (this bugs me, playing at junior level) simply not be (No Swearing Please) stupid. Bring some intelligence into your game for gods sakes, don't go after the ball when you're a number 11 and you need to see out another 18 overs.

^ This as well, being part of a left-right combination and running quick twos that turn into threes is awesome fun. Gets the opposition in all sorts, then you can simply smack the ball into gaps. Best fun in the world, honestly.

I'm an opener, so my opening partner is critical to me.

I find it rather odd when I open the batting. In some ways I'm relieved when my opening partner gets out first - it loosens me up and I start playing with less fear of losing my wicket as I'm not the first one back in the pavilion. That said, it's great when the opening partnership puts on runs. I suppose the whole being dismissed first thing leaves my mind once I've scored thirty-odd or more. I'll still be annoyed if I get out first, but far less once I've put a reasonable score on the board.

PS I never run my opening partner out on purpose (unless he keeps refusing to take easy singles)!!!

I used to feel exactly the same when opening the batting. Strange that, but I can see where you're coming from

I like my batting partners to be the opposite of how I like my sexual partners (that is to say  large, partially sighted and not averse to being on the receiving end of a quick one).

It really depends on the situation, if we are trying to survive and playing for the draw then I want a batsmen at the other end that is scoring in a positive manner to keep the runs ticking as in these situations I'm more than happy to sit and block if need be (a few seasons back in a 40 over game I was batting at 11 and my partner was at number 9 and I came to the crease in the 23rd over and survived until the very last over only scoring 5 or something but we were out there for a good hour and a half or so). In a normal situation I like to bat with someone thats very positive and will score at a steady rate so it doesn't put too much pressure on me to score a quick rate when I first get in.
