cheers for advice guys.

thats pretty much what am doing concentrating on what i eat then do what exercise i can.

as i can get into a routine with eating but due to other commitments exercise is gonna be hit and miss.

im gonna try and be under 20 stone by April

Good luck mate, setting yourself an achievable goal like that over a decent length of time will certainly help - I can also recommend MyFitnessPal too, when I used it previously I lost over 3 stone without changing my exercise levels at all, just make sure you add all your meals/snacks into it!

Condolences, always bad to lose someone.

Regarding weight loss, sticking to the wife's slimming world will help a lot.  I did that last year and went from over 17 to under 15 in about 3 months and kept it off since.

Hey Simms, sorry to hear that mate.

I know there has been a few messages etc already but of you need any on diet and exercise plan let me know iv lost 2st in last. 7 months by just changing a few dietary plans and little and often exercise

With you  on the weight loss and change of diet has told yesterday my cholesterol is 6.5.

Terrible news Simmy, glad to see you're looking at doing something productive.

A friend of mine has seen a few members have heart problems and has taken it upon himself to shed down on the weight.  He got up to 27 stone.  He was an active worker and bowled 20 overs of spin on a Saturday, 8 overs on a Sunday and played as a goalkeeper in the winter, thus he diet was the wrong side of appalling. 

Over the last 9 months he has shed about four and a half stone.  Although this is not a fair reflection as he is putting on muscle as well, in pure fat lose, god knows what he has lost.  It is his intention to get down to 18 stone.  He is currently challenging himself to lose 56 pound in 112 days (3.5 pounds a week) and halfway through he is well on course.  His aim is to be 18 stone by the start of the next season.

His advice, set goals.  Its what gets you through it.  Make them realistic so when you fail on a weekly basis you feel guilty, when you beat them you feel like you're really getting somewhere.

PS. I agree with all of the above.  80% = diet, 20% = exercise in my book.

this just 100% sounds like me lol play cricket and football as a keeper pretty active but my diet is shocking :)

but all will change :)

i feel better already eating less crap and im only 3 days in :)

Simmy,  you mentioned you don't get time to go to the gym, my advice would be purchase a kettlebell (start with a 16kg), you can store this in a corner at home and knock out some kettlebell swings, along with good diet it will burn he fat away and will be easy on your joints, you also get very fit. Tracy Reifkind is a qualified KB coach and lost loads of weight doing KB swings this is her blog http://tracysfoodandthought.blogspot.co.uk. If you decide to use KB's make sure you use good technique and you'll reap the benefits, with fat loss and improved performance for cricket and football ( due to the ballistic hip hinge movement and body strengthening controlling the offset KB weight).Good luck.

This winter I'm hoping to complete the T25 workout routine. It looks doable and doesn't take up too much time and of course watching my diet.

Redders is Mr kettlebell, goes to classes every week he tells me. I think it might be more to do with the female company though ;-)

As most said, I concur there opinions. One of my best friend is professional fitness trainer and has served Pakistan National cricket team for three years and is now back to academy working with grassroot level players. He always tells me it is all about diet (as other said 80% while rest is training, Alex Ariza (Amir Khan, Manny Pacquiao et al former conditioning coach also says this.).

I would suggest having a high fibre breakfast, that goes onto help for rest of the day. Also don't eat anything at least 3.5 hours before going to bed.

I often feel those who start off very fiercely get off track as fiercely, so gradually increase the intensity and work your way up. In order to reach at top, one starts from bottom.

Every pushup counts. Every sit-up counts. Every step counts. Every move counts. Nothing goes in vain.

All the best, this (thread) is also motivation for me as I am currently around 14 stones and want to get at least to 13 stones before December ends. So, thank you :-).

At 5ft 5 inches and 13 stone 4 ounces and a 40 inch waist I am  classed as obese So for me  now it's eat like a king in the morning
Eat like a prince at lunchtime and eat like a pauper at tea time.

Sounds like you might need to be eating like a pauper in the morning, a peasant at lunchtime and a tramp at tea....  ;)
