It's my 6th wedding anniversary today, I'm 35 and walking around at about 17.4, when we got married I was around 16st! I resumed cricket in between being married after having played a decent level as a junior then being in a very nasty car crash when I was 17 (broken vertabrae etc) desperately need to get back to 15-16st to get back to being a lot more mobile but it's hard!!

Clean eating and playing some squash i find it by far the best cardio ive ever done plus when you're as competitive as me and a friend are when we play you never stop!

This was my first season back and I'm at the heaviest I've ever been (18st) and the least fit I've ever been!

Going to be a long long winter to lose the weight I want and to regain some sort of fitness! I'll be netting at least once a week so will have a measure as I'm normally shattered after a net, fleeing better already just by running twice a week and plan on upgrading that and I've already altered my diet and cut out the snacking and other things that I fell into bad habits whilst at uni (beer take out etc) so he weight is coming down already luckily! Here's to being fit enough next season!

Cheers Stuey
Will start today, I've read quite a bit on the less intense cardio thing and the 5-2
Makes a lot of sense

I've Gotta reverse and get out of the habit of abusing company expenses
Spent the last ten years eating and drinking whatever I wanted all paid for by work, and most of the time sat on my backside
No wonder I look and feel like crap

Good luck, yeah fad diets and high intensity workouts are the reason people end up back where they started.

Yeah, never been a fan of these high intensity type workouts
I've seen too many people suffer injuries etc
The last bloke I spoke to about this, an ex bodybuilder, had stopped all the burpees and whatever, as he said over the last coupla years, most of the original attendees had suffered various injuries etc
He said he'd cut his workouts right back, and was totally focused on sorting his diet, and juicing
He's a similar age to me, but he's suffering a bit now from years of steroids and gh use etc

Might be a bit nosey, but could you share a bit of info on how you've achieved that weight loss?

I've been on 5.2 for two weeks now, basically cutting down to 2k calories per day and one day of 600 cals only
I feel ok, and can manage it ok, so long term, with cutting out eating crap and booze etc, I should get back to half decent condition
I'm pushing 50 now, and Christ it's all going pear shaped, so I want to start now before health issues crop up.

I've lost half a stone, so I'm really chuffed with that.
But ideally I want a true 32" waist, I'm probably a 38" at the minute,
This might be pushing it a bit, but I feel it's more of how I should be, if that makes sense?

The biggest thing I've noticed is to not calorie count. Eat proper food and make it yourself so you know what you're having. DON'T EAT BREAD! It's terrible. Eat as much rice, pasta and potatoes as you like. I'm eating tons of meat.

Hmm
Carbs are the killer for me
And obviously sugar
That's what I'm trying to avoid

I think the calorie counting, for me, has highlighted how many calories I was having daily
I must have averaged 4000! If not more, whilst working away, drinking beer etc
I'm surprised I'm not type 2, most of the blokes I work with are!

Breads fine, just eat the right breads in the right amounts at the right times.

Hey Reds - hows this going for you, that sounded like a massive weight loss, I've managed 15lbs in 6 weeks, but I have struggled with it over the last couple of weeks in missing basically bread and beer!! I need to crack into the exercise side of things to speed up the weight loss.

Just wondered how it was going and whether you'd set yourself a target to hit?
