hi, need some advice on best way to go about this, how serious does it look? was gonna glue and clamp/parcel tape but i think the toe need more knocking in, will this work? i assume the toe will just open up again after smashing it with a mallet
iv refurbed a few bats before but never done a repair so a little nervous. bats a gun so would love for it to last me this season
also any particular type of glue i should use, all suggestions appreciated

@raza147 , Glue, tape, clamp.

Make sure you get glue as far into the crack as possible, gently open with a pallet knife or craft knife but not too far that your making it worse (pva glue ! (which is water based..the water evaporates and binds the wood) , I use Gorrilla PVA glue) clean any excess glue off, wrap tightly in parcel tape. When clamping, use bits of wood either side of the bat (provides a larger clamping area and minimises marking) ensure its a good clamp, should solve the issue.

The Toe is one of the weakest points of the bat, very hard to 'knock in'.  Suggest using the middle.....:-)

As above, make sure it's outdoor pva. Uv and water resistant. You can use a syringe to get the glue in there. Otherwise buy a new bat!

thanks mate, gorrilla wood glue seems to have some good reviews so might try this out, the syringe is a great idea, should get the glue fairly deep into the bat
buying a new bat is always an option  :)

if you do use Gorilla glue, or any polyurethane glue, remember that it expands, is too viscous to use in a syringe and requires the surfaces to be damp, they also cure quickly so working time is limited.
I have never used a polyeurathane glue for a cricket bat for those reasons. Additionally it may be a little brittle once set.
I may be wrong, perhaps someone who has had a successful repair using it could comment.

toe guards dont stay on for me too, i tap my bat quite hard at the crease, so that doesnt help but shoe goo seems to last me the season, i apply about 3/4 layers

Recent Refurb last week, a player at the club was given a bat by his uncle and want a refurb but to keep the original stickers.

GM Striker. After a nice bit or sanding 12 lovely grains were found. (appoligies for my poor 'paint' editing skills).

SIDE

I have added a Scuff sheet and double grip to handle. No further pics due to the player wanting to use it last weekend.

I love your innocence, Churchy! I'm not exactly sure that's what we'd call a refurb around these parts!

Looks like a decent refurb to me, sticker still intact and looks in good order. Not every refurb is full blown surgery.

Guna have a go at refurbing this.  A little more testing than anything I've tried yet :)

Unless this is a goner?
