I reckon if you glue the crack together and clamp it then a couple of dowels in through the edge and it would be a solid repair.

Is there a link anywhere to a thread or video on how to do doweling?

Will dowels still work? The tape hid the extent of the damage!!

Hi All, Was wondering what you think if this? only had it for a few games and some net sessions but has cracked already! pictures dont show it very well but the crack run quite deep into the toe? Its an SF Black Edition. Have glued it and will hope for the best but is there anything else i can do?

Once you have got as much glue in there as possible and clamped it back to normal position, leave it to dry and sand off any excess glue, then I would apply a toe guard, I know a lot on here don't like them and think they don't help but I think if you fit it properly it helps these cracks chasing up further and prevents more damage from tapping the bat

As far as applying a tire guard goes, does it actually help, or is it more an "out of sight, out of mind" thing?
The first thing I do with tire guard is remove them, so I'm slightly bias lol

I'm not really sure I think it helps and with cracks on the toe often they get reopened by playing on a hard deck and the bat getting slid in so there I think they help a lot.
As for the out of sight out of mind, you may well have a point, I'd still want one on my bat though new or old

I'm interested to test out a hard toe though, they seem big in Australia and having had some help on working out what they are and how to do it I'm keen to try one out. Just need to use my bat for a bit first so any wood that will compress on the toe has as this is essential from what I've heard

It's unfortunate yes and you can probably count yourself unlucky but when it comes to the toe it's always going to be vulnerable unfortunately

Time to get this thread up and running again! I'm going to attempt something a bit different, a live refurb that you can watch through my Twitter page,
@wayward_hayward
. Not sure how useful or interesting it will be but I will try to explain what I'm doing as I go along. I aim to start between 10am and 10:30am uk time so keep an eye out if you fancy something to watch.
