2014/15 Club Subs and Match Fees Poll
« on: November 18, 2014, 03:53:29 PM »

Hi All,

Coming towards AGM time and the thorny issue of subs and match fees comes up. In an attempt to standardise the question I want people to imagine they play 15 games a season and how much the bill for Subs + match fees (15 games * £amount) would come to.

Would be interesting to know what facilities people are paying for as well - ie. do guys under £125 a village setup or have covers, sightscreens, nets, groundsmen etc

£10 a match with £60 subs (£25 of this is membership to our sports club social section, giving us access to the bar etc)

We have nets, roll-on covers, electronic scoreboard, 2 (well appreciated) volunteer groundsmen who work in tandem with 3 guys from the local public school that we pay to prepare the deck, and fantastic teas that are more than worth the £45 we pay for them.

I play many more than 15 games though. I think the number of games is quite relevant. The cost of maintaining mowers, sight screens etc doesn't change whether you play a handful of games a season, or loads. So a club playing fewer games may have higher costs per match to their players.

I took 15 games as an average season ie. if you play every saturday during the summer then after rain and the odd day off you probably play that many. Obviously keen cricketers will play double that but you have to start somewhere.

I pay £75. We don't have any subs just £5 per game for teas. It is a village team so no covers or sightscreens. We do have a nice pavilion with showers though!

£75 a season and £10 a game (although it is only £5 on Sunday if you played and paid a tenner on the Saturday)

We have a lovely pavillion, Adult pitch, colts pitch, double net, electronic scoreboard, 1 sightscreen, mowers, tractor, roller etc. and own our own land (although its on an Iron Age fort, so we can't really do much digging!)

I wouldn't begrudge paying a bit more up front, say £100, if I could see where the cash went, or if there was a reason for it, i.e. to kit out the club in the same kit, or a mobile net, or a coach for the colts.

£6 per game £25 subs

we have a private ground a couple of miles from nearest main road
roll on covers
2 lane nets plus roll on net
ample changing rooms and separate umpire changing room ( this was because the builder of the pavilion is our umpire)
Teas done by wives and girlfriends who are given £50 budget
Sightscreens both ends
Groundsman who is semi retired with all the kit ride on roller, ride on mower scarifier etc....
normal score box on top of pavilion next to the sun deck (electronic being discussed)
Subsidized shirts by sponsor

we play around 20-25 games a season with these fees

£3.50 match fee and £48 annual fee brings it up to £100.50. For that we get a full time groundsman who does everything in the morning of the game and who prepares one of the best decks in the league (and he was runner up at the county groundsman of the year award), all the equipment he can ask for, artificial and grass nets, manual scoreboard (but with a separate operator on match days), 2 sightscreens, two sets of Durant covers, decent changing rooms and shower facilities, an absolutely fantastic spread at tea (prepared by volunteer ladies), the club open every night of the week and all day at weekends even through winters.

Yep, we get it pretty cheap, but it's still a fight to get it off some players!

£130 per annum.  £8 for one game in a weekend, £6 for your second weekend game.  2020 cricket is free.

Depends as well if your club has benefactors of some description, which is obviously something to take into account on top of this source of income

Will be interesting to know the views of those paying £350+

£150 per year irrespective of number of games, although some will be debating if this needs bringing down to £100

there is some concession for juniors and unemployed.

Really fine pitches, 4 old chaps who take care of ground and facilities.

Scoreboard sightscreen two practice nets bowling machine etc.

I Pay £320. Pressed the wrong button on the survey as I'm a bit of an idiot.

So we pay £12 per game and pay £140 subs.

I am in London though so that may explain it.

Facilities aren't the best but they're not the worst either. If you wanted to pay less, you could, but then you'd end up playing on an outfield filled with used needles (which has happened in an away game). Teas, however, are appalling.

£170 subs
£7 match fee for home games

So roughly £240 a season, this includes great pitches, side screens, roll on covers, 2 lane nets not that great though, 2 roll on cages, electronic score board really, good teas usually hot food like chips
plus curry or chili. We also get subsidised bar prices.

I might be wrong about this but normally subs/match fees make up a third of income. The remaining two thirds come from fundraising/sponsorship/ground hire/colts. Would be interesting to know if anybody breaks this rule (you'll need the club accounts I suspect).

I used to pay £50 and £5 a game in the Worcestershire league, then I moved to London...

£125 fees, £12 a game

Frightening for the, quite frankly, sh*t standard of grounds I've played at

On that note - anyone know of a good friendly club that would be commutable from Royal Victoria/Canning Town? I'm on the lookout for 2015, decent standard would be good but more interested in having an enjoyable saturday with a beer or 4 afterwards!

25 quid membership. 5 quid a game. 3 quid for unemployed and students.
looking at the rest of you this seems a bargain. The ground is well maintained and we have one of the best squares in the division.
