I start a new job in Sarf London in the New Year so I'd like to tag along in the future if this becomes a regular thing.

It's coming tonight dudes - I shall critique you all!

Hopefully Tim will get up the 1 or 2 pics he took last night with his long handle, long blade camera.

Ok, have a few minutes without feminine interference, so let me introduce you to a few more of our forum chums -

Plumb111

Kit:            None
Facial Hair: Plenty, wispy and of indeterminate colour
Bowling:     Right arm over dobblers, rapidly descending to a version of 'off-spin'
Batting:      Right hand 'get on with it'

A solid, hunky type of fellow, in the mould of a young farmer. With beetling brows and a taciturn manner he seems quite imposing when you first meet him, but this impression is belied by a cheery personality.

Attempted to bowl some seam up dobbers at the start, but as the evening progressed it seemed to become right arm round offies, which were very pleasing to the batsmen.

With the bat he seems predominately an off-side player who likes to drive straight(ish) and go over the top, gets in a bit of a tangle off his legs though. Strangely susceptible to a left-arm bender though!

Felix:

Kit:            Very nice Aldred Butterfly, Puma Pads and a GN Duffle
Facial Hair: A full, lustrous, dark beard
Bowling:     Left arm over drifters, delivered with a wrist like a cocked medieval siege engine
Batting:      Right hand steady opener

A tall, slender reed of a man, with aforementioned beard and closely cropped salt and pepper hair, he resembled Gandalf in his early years. Softly spoken and calm, he puts one at ease immediately - which made me suspicious that he was buttering me up prior to assaulting my bowling.

He batted very steadily, seeming to be able to play shots to both sides of the wicket, and most shots going along the ground like an opener should (yawn!!) - has a disturbing compulsion to wander across his stumps and be LBW. The bowling was a surprise though, he charges up to the wicket like a fat child with a fiver chasing an Ice-Cream van and unleashes his left-arm drifters at what he tells us is a venomous pace. It is a shame we did not have the speed gun turned on!

I'm not sure what to say! Your description of my run up is frighteningly vivid - i saw myself bowling on video once and I scared myself... I don't remember bragging about my pace and don't know if there's a speedgun that registers minus values :-[

Farnham Quins

Kit:            Powerspot, H4L Devil, some very tasty Blank Bats Softs
Facial Hair: Nice dash of stubble to compliment his 'Fro
Bowling:     Right arm over droppers with the occasional cheeky yorker thrown in
Batting:      Right hand 'give it some room son'

Well at first I thought some 'yoof' in a fluorescent football shirt had broken in and was going to rob us all, but in fact it was the marvellously young and fresh-faced 'Quinny' in his England ODI shirt. He's a hairy little bugger and a slip of a lad, but with a charming smile and impeccable manners - I wanted to take him home to meet my mum.

I think it's fair to say his first batting stint was a little tentative, with a tendency to hang his bottom over leg stump, but as the evening went on he certainly gave the ones in his zone a hearty thump. His bowling is deceptive, it carries no recordable pace, but it is infuriatingly straight on the stumps - could he be the mystery death-bowler?

Boondougle:

Kit:            A pair of Fusion gloves and what I suspect was a bejewelled box which he kept hidden in a little satin bag.
Facial Hair: A light dusting of stubble
Bowling:     Right arm tidy off-spin
Batting:      Right hand aggressive slasher

Short, stocky, slightly greying with a beaming smile and horn-rimmed specs, he looked like a wise old uncle ready to dispense advice and a cuff round the ear. Lovely beaming smile and great enthusiasm for both netting and kit, he seemed like a super chap - although I do suspect that sadly, he may be from the North!

Yes - he's one of 'those' off-spinners!!! Lovely loop, flight and dip and he drops it on that annoying spot that means you would struggle to moo him (although many tried!). Despite the lack of extravagant turn he bagged a few bunnies, although he may have to work on his variety as announcing loudly "I shall try the leggie now" before he bowls it, is not really going to work!

An aggressive batsman with a low, squatting stance, he puts one in mind of a small tank. He likes the pull and cut, and isn't afraid to drive on the up too. Don't bowl him a bad ball - his face positively lights up!!!

Tim, Timmy, Timothy

Kit:            Plenty - might as well have brought a Sherpa
Facial Hair: Clean-shaven schoolboy complexion
Bowling:     Right arm nippy cutters and swingers
Batting:      Right hand swing at everything

Much has already been said and seen of Tim, so there is little to add. He's very tall, clean shaven and well turned-out, so he looks like an overgrown Head-Boy. He has a deep, resonant voice, so is obviously the thinking woman's Barry White. Everytime he took a wicket I expected him to break into "My first, my last, my everythang".

He was naughty last night, he kept bowling his in-cutters and swingers on a very tight line, which really isn't fair on any of us sloggers - however it was the batting that caught the eye. He swung at everything, frequently going over the top, but also peppering the roof of the nets too. He uses long bladed bats, so with one of those, his 7ft 2 frame and his long monkey arms, it's like someone coming at you with a garden hoe. A very irresponsible man, and I hope no children were watching!  He had a really nice Hunts County Butterfly and his B3 went off like a gunshot too.

I believe Tim may have taken a couple of photos of last night, so if someone asks him nicely, he may put them up.

Mr Cattus showing off his Form:

Look at that!!  High front elbow, head over the ball, straight blade, well-balanced as I crash it through the covers.

Watch and learn younglings, watch and learn  :D
