I think VKS did a vice where they said t was about a gram from memory!
From memory I think the exact difference is around 4gms.

After seeing wessels masuri catch the ball without it touching his face I think masuri just jumped to the top of the helmet pile :)

really interesting video. not sure the Masuri is designed to do that, but it has done its job.

no question if that had been an old style Masuri the batsman would have been in trouble

If you compare that to Keiswetter. Definitely top at the moment.

Hi guys I recently purchased an Albion ultimate helmet from Sports direct which rrp at around 80 pound. I saw today that they don't confirm to the latest safety regs, does anyone know anything about this? Naturally enough I became quite worried

Don't get too hung up on the safety regulations.
I'm using a Sports Direct Albion with an old Ti22 grill from 2010! The Albion shell is the best mix of comfort and coverage in my opinion, and it's better than not wearing a helmet at all.
It might not meet current regulations, but set the grill close enough to the peak so a ball won't go through undisturbed. If I get one trough the grille with the gap I've got set I'll consider myself very unlucky!

Wait, if you're using the grill provided with the helmet the gap isn't adjustable and is smaller than a ball anyway.
Honest opinion is I think they're fine despite not meeting the "current" safety regulations. I'd happily wear an Albion any day of the week  :)

I tweeted Albion about this a while ago, they are confident about their peaks and haven't in the past suffered in the way the Masuri lids used too.

To be fair masuri got alot of grief when they first released the lid. Me being one.

It looked ugly and wrong.

Since then the plastic ear pieces have been changed to standard foam ones. And the stupid flexible peak has been dropped.

Add that when it's in contrasting colors.  Ala big bash. It really isn't a bad looking helmet no more.

One may be on the horizon for me. If I can get the colour combo wanted.

personally I am still put off by the weight, 1kg pretty heavy for a lid.

No. Sydney thunder green. The yellow lids gilchrist and Sehwag wore in the mcc game last year was tempting though.

Weights a Wierd one. I had a Rawtek titanium last year. This year I've added a standard steel grill aditek to my kit. In your hands and on first fitting you can tell it's heavier. But once a few net shots are played. I forget it's on. Never mind the weight of it.
Hopefully the masuri will be the same.
