He was aweful.

at least he didn't make one of our best batsmen an outcast, so not that bad.

Reckon aus should be able to double there score if they continue bowling short

Aussie commentators doing their nuts about India bowlers. Brad haddin hangs on the backfoot and you think it would be obvious to bowl full and wait for him to miss one.

Ahhhh... The tactic every International ODI team uses against England.

Always a winner! :s

Yadav pitches it up and Haddin misses it, funny that.

Bowling straight ought to be common sense, bypassed a few bowlers in the England and india setups!

150 for Smifffy! Always liked him as a player and he's showing the world what he's capable of!

He's now one past 1,000 test runs for the year, and 2,000 career test runs.
Worth noting he reached 2,000 test runs from 25 matches (47 innings) which is quicker than Ponting, Clarke or Border.

Have Australia found a long term leader and future legend of the game?

No, your best batsman embarrassed himself and his team by bagging Strauss, pretty sure Strauss was happy to see him get the treatment he deserved.
I like Strauss but horribly negative skipper, I don't have any time for KP.

Long term leader?  Possibly.  Future legend....not convinced on that score just yet!

I like Strauss but horribly negative skipper, I don't have any time for KP.

The key difference between Strauss' negativity and Cook's is in personnel - Strauss could afford to play a slightly attritional game because he had the perfect sit-and-wait attack - Broad and Bresnan could seal up an end waiting for Swann or Anderson to bowl a magic ball.  He also had a side that reliably scored 450 in the first innings.

Cook doesn't have that attack.  Nor does he have the reliable batting - at least, the only evidence he might have came against India, so counts for little.  Different puzzle, needs a different - and more overtly attacking - solution.

Steven Smith might not be the next Michael Clarke, but he's a tough old nut that's for certain. Remains to be seen whether he can bat like this on more seamer friendly pitches, Boult & Southee would be a god contest against Smith.

India's fast bowlers are shocking. Shami has no ability in just bowling a good line and length. Ishant Sharma just bowls too short for a dibbly dobber medium fast bowler. Yadav and Ashwin bowled nicely, but copped it as the charity offering from Shami/Sharma got the Australians ticking.

I don't think India's batting is bad at all, honestly. When you have to go out 500 in the red every test match it must get tedious. I could imagine scoring a hundred wouldn't feel particularly satisfying when you still end your innings 100 down. Don't know what our fast bowlers are doing to be honest, no way should Ryan Harris be scoring 80 odd.

Cheteshwar Pujara seems to have been found out goo and proper. A king on the sub-continental flat pancakes and a walking wicket everywhere else. His 'huge' reputation have been shot to pieces in 2014. Never mind though, India's next 24 months of Test cricket is all in Asia. Pujara will boost his average in no time.

Kohli is going to fill his boots today... that MCG pitch looks a little bit sub-continental... going to be a long day for the Aussies

Australia paying dearly for two drop catches. Lyon spilled at dolly caught and bowled offered up by Rahane when he was 70 odd. The. Watson dropped a tough one at first slip of the  bowling of Johnson when Kohli was on 80 odd.

Since then, Johnson gave Kohli a few verbals, and India have ripped him a new one.
