Why at 2-0 up would you give the opposition a sniff? Not sure why we walked off early though, 24 balls to take 4 wickets, not much point calling it at that stage.

Did they have an appointment to get to? 4 overs takes no time. Can't think of a good cricketing, sporting or viewing reason for stopping short. Any ideas? I might even feel a bit cheated if I'd paid. Surely no gambling reason?

After back to back to back tests and all played on flat sub continental style pitches, there seemed little point in playing out those last four overs and risking injury to already fatigued bowlers.

Nothing to do with gambling.

Vic, are you as critical of these pitches which are similar to the UK ones you thought were rubbish? (as I did too by the way).
We will see a load more dead pitches this summer.

After India's last tour here where the celebrated batting line up of Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kohli and Laxman was blown away with embarrassing ease in all four tests, the recent Indian tour of England caused shockwaves in the corridors of Cricket Australia. So inept were Kohli and co, that all four tests were feared  to last no more than three days each if Johnson, Harris and co bowled on green tinged wickets with bounce.

To guarantee five day tests and maximise TV advertising revenue, the pitches were deadened to a degree that I have not seen in my life time of watching cricket in Australia. The leading wicket taker was Nathan Bloody Lyon if I am not wrong?

I doubt that Smith and Kohli will ever make so many runs in a series again. It was shameful...and if I was into conspiracy theories, I would have blamed the BCCI for all four pitches resembling Indian pitches, but this has the fingerprints of CA all over it I am afraid.
