Kook pro players duffle - a recent purchase
« on: January 10, 2015, 04:48:03 PM »

So first of all RIP to the woodworm wheelie.
It really has been a great bag and considering i haven't really played much in the last 4/5 years its done a great job of keeping all my kit in one place and moving it each time we have moved house. It probably had another season or 2 in it but this forum is simply not conducive to "new kit avoidance"

Secondly a big shout to Jake at Vitas. Super customer service, quick response and a top chap.

My research had lead me to a choice between either the TON or the GN1000 and i was lucky enough to see them both side by side at a recent net session. After that i had decided on the GN until Jake posted a pic of the kook - It seemed the best of both worlds and i liked the design. At £50 its not the cheapest but now its here i am very pleased with it, even given the extra price over the GN and the TON.

I have never had a duffle before, it will be my only bag. I'm not a keeper nor an equipment horder so i wanted something that was...

1. Easy to handle in and out of the car
2. Easy to carry when traipsing across car parks and over to our nets
3. Would fit everything in a normal player needs
4. Had small packets for valuables / coins / phones etc
5. Had internal bat pockets (just a personal preference)

So here it is fully packed, lording it up over the retired worm

First impressions are this bag is big. Bigger than the GN and about the same as the TON. Not silly big but loads of space for what i need.
I thought it was going to be a bit more garish than it actually is. To me the colours work really well and combining both the look and feel i would say it comes across as a slightly more premium product that the TON and a bit more interesting than the GN. Of course this is a personal opinion but needless to say i am happy with it.

I like the grab handle on the front as it makes it easy to lift off the floor / out the boot. and i really like the tougher rubberised base the wraps around the bottom.

I'll let the pics do the talking of the various pockets and what i have in them.

Helmet in the front pocket...

2 pairs of shoes

Valuables pocket

Another grab handle

One thing that amazed me was the weight of it compared to my wheelie... man that thing was heavy. This is pretty light but feels pretty well put together... i guess time will tell how well it lasts but for now at least it looks good.

I have one final bit of kit to arrival before i can do a 2015 kit post but a certain pod shaver with a red pen is on the case with that at the moment.

I hope the pics are useful to anyone looking at a new duffle. I still think the GN or the TON are great bags and can be had for great price's but i think this is a great bag and will do me just fine.

 :D

Very nice looking bag colours look really good. I still have my woodworm wheelie in the attic with the side kit in I bought it ten years ago. Still in fairly good nick

Thats a well thought out duffle. My woodworm duffle  is pretty basic by comparison.  Love the shoe pocket and valuables pocket. Also the front handle is something all should have. evolutionary!

I got my wife in mine and managed to zip it closed...

Can't fault the bag, possibly only that it could do with some rods so it stands up when empty. I'm being very picky though, it's a fantastic bag

Thanks for the review and I'm starting to warm to this one from Kooka. I like the fact that there is a separate helmet area and a footwear section. I have the GN1000 duffle and it is good, but my criticism of it is that whilst it does have a footwear area, the helmet is tough to fit in when you have a full kit in there too. The large side pockets, valuables pocket and bat section are also big selling points for me.

I think the thing to remember about the front pocket is that it just shares the same space as in the main section. It's useful to be able to separate the contents of the front pocket from the main section but space wise there is no advantage

Hahah. I walked in the room to find my daughter getting in the bag... I then carried her around the house in it.
She was laughing all the way.

Very nice! Makes me wonder whether I should have gone for this over the Gn1000 - I find it big enough for my needs, it'll hold all my match gear, but you need to be a bit organised when you pack it as there isn't much space to spare.

There has been a good video posted in another thread of someone emptying their look duffle. Definitely lots of stuff can be crammed in.
